Metamorphosis Dance Academy is the proud home of the Metamorphosis Dance Ensemble. Founded by Melanie Kregel and Erica Hiebner, MDE is a contemporary dance company currently under the artistic direction of Erin Mayo.
They enjoyed their first season in 2003-2004, which culminated in their debut production, “Memoirs”. In March 2005, MDE performed its second annual production entitled "Still...Moving", which paid tribute to Austin's uniqueness. Continuing the tradition of providing excellent entertainment and innovative choreography, they presented "Who's Betty?" in March 2006, which honored women throughout the ages.
Recently, the company merged with Austin Dance Ensemble directed by Arletta Howard Logan. The resulting company is called Austin Metamorphosis Dance Ensemble. AMDE presented four shows as a combined company. This season the company will again present 3 original productions under the direction of Melanie Kregel and Danielle Ricci.
