Austin Music Office

About me:

The Austin Music Office promotes Austin as a great travel destination for enjoying live music and introduces local music to the world. We produce an annual compilation CD of Austin artists, the most recent being Austin Music Vol. 8. We help clients find bands for events such as weddings, parties, and conventions via the Hire an Austin Musician program. We also book bands for weekly City Council meetings where over 40 musicians are honored annually. We encourage meeting and event planners to utilize live music venues as alternative event sites and inform venues when large groups are coming to town. Finally, we act as a liaison between the music community and city government to help ensure the success of Austin's $600 million music industry. We will be using MySpace to search for talented local artists, so we encourage you to be our friend!

Austin Music Volume 8 CD is a compilation of various artists from Austin. This volume includes Gary Clark Jr., Reckless Kelly, Kat Edmonson, Dan Dyer, Tish Hinojosa, Jerry Jeff Walker, Jeff Lofton, Amy Cook, Randy Weeks, Guy Forsyth, Drew Smith, Brownout, Brothers and Sisters, and Okkervil River. The CD is on sale now at Waterloo Records and at austintexas.org!

City Council Music Schedule:

The City of Austin recognizes a different musical artist at each City Council meeting. A proclamation is read by the mayor declaring it that artist's day. Musicians play one song at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall. It is also televised live on Austin Access Ch.6.The public is welcome to attend.
