About me: The 16th annual Austin Reggae Festival generated raised $201,541.55 and 10,427 pounds of food for the Capital Area Food Bank. These donations will provide meals for more than 690,000 hungry families throughout the Central Texas region. Thanks so much to all the wonderful reggae fans whose incredible generosity is helping to make life a lot better for our hungry neighbors!!
Scheduled Saturday, April 18 as well as Sunday, April 19 at Auditorium Shores, the Austin Reggae Festival celebrates positive vibrations, peace, tolerance and the miracle of spring. In addition to amazing world music from dozens of top national and international bands, the event also features ethnic food,
exotic arts & crafts, and premium people-watching.
Headliners for the 2009 event are the Skatalties (Saturday, April 18) and Wailing Souls (Sunday, April 19). Other performers at this year's event include Bandulus, Don Chani, Grimy Styles, Jah Roots, Los Skarnales, Mau Mau
Chaplains, Radio La Chusma, the Reddies and Subrosa Union. Click here to see the most current schedule of when these acts are performing.
Gates at Auditorium Shores open at noon on both Saturday and Sunday. Music begins at noon each day and runs until 10:00 pm. Admission fee is only $10 per day if tickets are purchased in advance. Ticket price increases to $15 per day at the gate.
A donation of two non-perishable food items to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas is encouraged (but does not reduce the admission fee). Children 12 and under are admitted free to the Austin Reggae Festival if accompanied by a parent or an adult. Check out www.austinreggaefest.com for more
