Drawing from the refinement of classical music, the visceral experience of blues and classic rock and the swinging dance feel of American jazz, and folk traditions, Austin Weyand creates a truly diverse and awe-inspiring experience through the medium of solo acoustic guitar instrumentals. Austin entertains with his ability to be a one man band displaying melody, harmony, bass lines, and percussion at the same time.
As the 2008 champion of the State of Wyoming Fingerstyle Guitar Competition Austin has drawn attention to his music. National Fingerstyle Guitar Champion Chris Proctor says, "Austin plays imaginative, original pieces and arrangements for solo guitar with a fine technique and excellent tone. If you like solo acoustic guitar, my guess is that you'll find his music right up your alley."
Blair Larsen of the Bridger Folk Music Society says, "In concert, Austin creates an atmosphere of appreciation for his guitar technique, his creative compositions, and for the pure art of music."
Austins new CD entitled Too Much Information showcases 11 powerful solo guitar instrumentals, 9 of which are Austins own compositions and arrangements. They include groove-based intricate compositions such as House of Chuckles and E Minor Ooze that will keep your foot tapping; melodic ballads Kassies Wisdom and Crawling that were written for his wife and daughter; and thoughtful, inspiring arrangements of both popular and traditional music including a stellar rendition of the 1971 Who classic Behind Blue Eyes.
Austin holds a masters degree in jazz studies from Northern Illinois University where he studied intensively with eclectic classical, jazz, and jam band recording artist Fareed Haque.
For undergraduate studies, Austin received a baccalaureate degree in guitar performance from Utah State University where he received many awards, including two-time winner of the USU concerto competition. As a winner he performed guitar concertos by Mauro Giuliani and Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco with the Utah State Symphony Orchestra. He is also a frequent guest artist with high school orchestras performing the Vivaldi guitar concerto in D major.
Austin has performed with various jazz and acoustic bands and recording projects including for the CBS television show "Touched by an Angel." Along with performing solo he also performs with the Austin Weyand Band, the Aaron Ashton Band, and the Weyand and Watkins Guitar Duo. Austin endorses guitars by Ryan Thorell. www.thorellguitars.com
Hi Austin, I just sat and listened to all of the tracks you have up on your site. Great stuff! You have great chops and tunes. I especially loved Kassie's Wisdom.
Any chance you'll be in Winfield KS in a few weeks?
Nice meeting you, too! I was blown away with your talent! I enjoyed listening to your CD. Hopefully I can catch another one of your performances sometime.
Hi Austin, I really like your tracks. Thank you for the add :) Take a look at my video of The Writing on the Wall from my acoustic album, Beyond the Blues. Quote from the wall: ‘The wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly’. Thanks again, Steve
Am I enforcing the law? Oh yeah. And you're going to find out "what it's like to BE the bad man" if you don't keep me posted as to when you play again!
Rock on!

If you ever want to make your way south to Clearfield, I'd love to have you featured in the Acoustic Showcase. You get a half-hour set, and after three performers, the stage opens up to an open mic/jam. If you're interested, email me or info@thelocallanding.net! Peace and Love, Alex Castle
Hey Austin, Would you be interested in performing at "Why Sound" in April or May if you have availability? Let me know if there is a particular weekend you would like to set up a concert and I will check our schedule also. Thanks
Hey Austin! I'm the first to comment on your page!!
So....Decker emailed me about all of us getting together for an In One Ear "reunion". I think that would be awesome - let me know if you guys are still talking about it!
