About me:
Australians have always enjoyed a close link to the sea – for sport, play, exploration, defence, industry and adventure. The Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM) captures many of these stories with lively exhibitions, rare and fascinating artifacts, fun activities and the chance to climb aboard and experience life at sea.
Explore the lives of those who helped shape Australia’s history, like Captain Cook, the first Australians and post-war migrants who sailed across vast seas to settle on these shores.
Inspect the fleet of historic vessels moored at our wharves. Go on board an Australian naval destroyer, a Vietnamese refugee boat and a submarine. Don’t miss the magnificent full-scale replica of Captain Cook’s Endeavour, which you can also join on an exhilarating voyage up Australia’s coast, as a paying passenger. Inside the museum, browse our entertaining galleries, stocked with treasures like 120 years of Australian beach fashion and the world’s fastest boat. Discover the weird and wonderful, like a Viking ship made out of beer cans! Save some time to visit our popular changing exhibitions and special events sourced from here and overseas.
Families enjoy live entertainment and fun kids’ activities during school holidays and weekends. We also offer educational programs for school groups and AMNN members.
The ANMM is open every day and entry is free (plus a small fee to explore the ships).
See you at the ANMM!
