I received my first camera as a Christmas gift when I was 7. I spent the proceeding weeks and months thoughtfully documenting my dolls, trees, birds, dirt, whatever I could take a picture of. Photography became my first love. I was fascinated by the process of taking a photograph, fascinated with the way light and shadows mingled to create depth, fascinated with (as the quote above says) the way life seemed to stand still in a photograph. Throughout high school and during my college years I remained captivated with photography even as life was leading me in a different direction. It wasn't until the birth of my first child, that my passion was rekindled.
Now, as a wife and mother of 2, I realize the relevance of a beautiful photograph. These moments in a child's life will never happen again and deserve to be documented magnificently. I strive to capture a child's spirit in a photograph, not just what he or she looks like, but their true personality, who they are at that moment. As they grow and change, it's a wonderful feeling to be able to look back and appreciate the moments; the frowns and smiles, laughs and cries, the silly faces and inquisitive stares that make each child unique.
