GeneralOn my last myspace (the one that got erased with no explanation) I made myself sound real interesting here, but now I don't remember what I said (sigh). Let's see, I'm interested in my gorgeous husband, my amazing kids (even though my son won't come out of his room), my Russian Blue and Berman cats, Manhattan (where I live), theater, writing, painting, shopping, reading, global warming, (no, not really, but I want to sound less shallow than I really am). I am very interested in being cast in the last scene of the movie version of The Ivy Chronicles (there's a perfect part for me), owning a chandelier, weighing twenty pounds less, going on the Today Show and be interviewed by Al Roker, having witty conversation with Hugh Grant*, being able to waltz into Chanel to buy something adorable in black, in weighing twenty pounds less (oh yes, I believe I mentioned that). *my friend met Hugh in Southampton this summer and apparently, he wasn't terribly animated or friendly to her even though she is quite adorable, but I'd still like to have witty banter with the fantasy I have of that cute and sweetly bumbling Hugh Grant from the movies.
MusicChaka Khan, Diana Krall, Harry Connick Jr., Willie Nelson, Jennifer Holiday, Lezlie Harrison, Tessa Souter, Joni Mitchell, The Jersey Boys
MoviesAbout a Boy, Little Miss Sunshine, Bridget Jones, Notting Hill, Hannah and Her Sisters, Manhattan, Sleepless in Seattle (I'm a sucker for romantic comedy and anything starring Hugh Grant), Roman Holiday, Sabrina, Daddy Longlegs, An Affair to Remember, Charade, To Catch a Thief, Funny Face, Juno

About me:
I'm on the left. My hair was so much redder then, I'm browner than that now. Those are my novels on the right. If you'd like to see a short video of my Greenwich Village reading for Holly Would Dream with a cast of Audrey Hepburn-lookalikes, go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqb-2iPQdd8

I’ve been a lawyer, an advertising exec, a private school admissions advisor and now I’m a writer. The writer gig is definitely the best. My novels are life-inspired comedies. The Ivy Chronicles is about a woman who starts a business helping rich Manhattanites get their little darlings into the city’s best schools (I used to do that for a living). Wife in the Fast Lane is about a successful NYC wife and mother whose life starts to unravel when she tries to juggle more than is humanly possible (I currently do this in my life). Holly Would Dream is about a woman who is obsessed with Audrey Hepburn and wishes her life could be more like Sabrina or An Affair to Remember (that's me, a romantic fool!). Did I mention you can order my books on Amazon? You can, and you definitely should! Besides my brilliant career, I have two kids, one husband, two cats, and a to-do list that will never get done. Oh well.
Who I'd like to meet:
I'd like to meet you, of course. So far, I've met some very wonderful people on my space. I wish I'd had this when I was in high school. Maybe then I wouldn't have had to go through years of therapy to get over the pain of those years. Oh wait, they weren't THAT painful. I had a football player boyfriend, but he had a massive rear end, so that kind of negated the glory of it (Gosh, I hope he never reads this, but if he does - Larry, I swear my love for you was far bigger than your butt). Also lessening the pain of high school was the fact that I was the student council president. Oddly, my husband was president of HIS student council. Isn't it weird how student coucil presidents get together and marry? Maybe I can write a book about that - When Student Council Presidents Marry. Have I been spelling council right? Is it council or counsel? That's like principle. I can never remember if it's principle or principal. The way to keep that one straight is to keep in mind that your high school school principal is your PAL. Well, mine wasn't. He ran off with one of my classmates. It was a terrible scandal, as you can imagine. He only had one arm, although he often wore a fake arm with a hook thingie on the end so he could pick stuff up. It was very primitive. The newer ones are much more effective (as far as I know, not that I've gone shopping for one lately, or ever). Wait, what was the question...

Congrats on your new book, Karen! It looks fabulous. I also read your bio and see that we have a lot in common. I also left the corporate world to become an author (my new book, Escape from Corporate America, came out in May). Best of luck with your book launch. I can't wait to read more about Holly.

Congratulations Karen. We're almost done with book 2. The title is Destiny Cafe. Another romantic effort.

In the meantime if you want to check out what else we've been up to please visit our page. The song that plays on the page - "Love Song" was co-written by me. I wrote the lyrics and the music was done by a very talented singer songwriter down in Fla by the name of Timothy Simpson. Give him a listen. www. myspace. com/timothysimpson.

Congrats again on the book.
