“Just see me, Glory."
Trenton’s words wound around Glory, pulling her into the embrace of his longing. She obeyed, the room melting away as he reached out to stroke a finger along her cheek. The contact brought a rush of sensation, like a wave crashing over the shores of her mind. Giving herself over to it, it washed through her until she saw herself existing in two times and from two minds. She felt the woman she was here and now–palms growing damp as they pressed against the wood table–existing alongside the her that would be...back pressed against the kitchen cabinets and palms fisted in his smooth hair.
She jerked in surprise at the duality. He murmured tender reassurances that were undecipherable in words, but nevertheless lulled her back into the sensation...back to the same undulating sway of their premiere night dance, leaving her both soothed and ignited.
As if sinewy tendrils of nerve endings stretched between them to bridge the gaps between synapses and neurons, she saw not only from her own mind, but also his. She felt within him a musk of yearning so fierce that it brought a gasp, yet with a tenderness and hope she could drown in.
In his eyes she saw him experiencing her own longing for him, felt his guttural moan in response to the intensity of it. Pulling back into herself, she found them standing, her backside against a kitchen cabinet, unaware of how they’d gotten there. Her fingers raked his butter-soft hair as his mouth moved on her, and she could feel it pressing against the pulse at the base of her throat as in reality now, plus she could feel it then, when it would be tasting her lips, trailing her stomach. Echoing pairs of his hands roamed over her, overlapping time as he unbuttoned her blouse now but grazed her bare flesh then.
His whisper shuddered through her. “My God, Glory.”
She heard the words, but didn’t need to ask their meaning because she could see it, viewing her own beauty through his eyes in a way she never dreamed when studying her flaws in a mirror. In his mirror, she was beauty’s perfection.
