"...is a book that you will want to read more than once. It is easy to read and will provide a few hours of entertaining reading. There is no complicated plot to slow you down. The book is about people and the tragedies that shaped them. It offers insight into the mind of a serial killer through journal excerpts, somehow making us feel more sympathy for the perpetrator than his victims. Readers may be offended by the liberal use of profanity. Open minded people will realize that the profanity is a necessary tool to convey the deep anger that is the killer's motivation. The use of urban slang and profanity keep the book 'real'."...Diane T.
If anyone else has a review to offer, please do so! I would appreciate it. :-)
Also, I like reading LOTR, Harry Potter series, Anne Of Green Gables series, The Cat Who... series, some Star Trek and Star Wars (ya I'm a nerd), Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child, Stephen King, Nancy Drew, Dexter, and lately I'm into the Dixie Hemingway mysteries by Blaize Clement. Most recently (and even currently) I'm completely addicted/consumed by the Twilight series. Edward...!!!
Heroes
My family and friends, of course. Mark (my hubby) was totally my backbone while I was writing this. Thanks babe!
A couple of heroic quotes that I'd like to share, with thanks to the friends who boosted my morale with them:
George (Zoomar) Gould:
Shoot for the moon, and if you miss, you'll still land among the stars.
Stephen LeBlanc:
Those who try little in life will feel little grief, but also little joy. Those who take risks may feel more grief, but experience bigger joy.
And, if he were real, I think I'd really like Dexter. Thumbs up from me!
About me: Hi everyone!!
Welcome to my page!
My name's Lynn, and I've just self-published my first novel, "Indigo Killer". I've also self-published a collection of short stories entitled "Chillers". Both are available for order in either print format or download from:
http://stores.lulu.com/lynnmceachern
"Indigo Killer" can also be purchased at Reid's Newsstand, 985 Main Street, Moncton, NB, Canada (if you happen to be in the neighbourhood).
I live in Canada, with my boyfriend of sixteen years (Mark) and our two lovely cats (Flipper and Frodo). By day, I'm a mild-mannered photolab manager. When the lab coat comes off, however, the diabolical tales flow from my fingertips onto the computer monitor. Mwaaaa haa haa haa haa *cackles gleefully*
Other hobbies and interests include photography, music, reading, watching movies and some tv, & going out for walks and assorted beverages with Mark. I'm a pretty laid-back sort of person.
So, Indigo Killer...
It's a tale of a young man who's becoming a serial killer. He doesn't think so, of course...just a little bit of denial there. He deliberately leaves just one clue each time, carelessly tossed onto the front steps of the local police station: a DVD of the murder, in the format of a reality television show. A dangerous (and deadly) game of "catch me if you can". The story is set in the fictional town of Indigo, Maine, and the two protagonists -- police officer C.J. Hollinson, and his best friend/amateur sleuth Dane Shand -- set out to stop the killer before he can strike again.
Chillers...
This is collection of four of my favourite short stories: The Old House; Gangster; Twist Of Fate; and, Sheila Went Away.
The Old House is a somewhat-fictionalised account of the house that I grew up in. It's probably the reason that I'm still scared of the dark.
Gangster is a story of two boys who take "cops and robbers", and elevate it a little, with disastrous consequences. Originally featured on my fictionpress page, this story was noticed by a theatre student in Indiana. He contacted me to obtain permission to adapt it for the stage, which of course I gave him! While I didn't get down to Indiana to see it, he said that it went well, with enthusiastic reviews from his professors. Wicked.
Twist Of Fate is a story that I thought of one day after reading a "fortune" on a soda cap. It said that my mind, being original and creative, would make me famous some day, LOL! It didn't mention anything about "rich"...I think I'd prefer "rich" over "famous", any day... but anyway. That same day, one of my short stories won a local contest. This got me thinking, "Wouldn't it be freaky if fortune cookies, etc, were to come true?" So this story is what happens to a guy who's fortunes do come true. I entered this story in Project Greenlight, and was a Canadian finalist. Not a winner, but a finalist nonetheless, and I won a Ben Affleck dvd!
Sheila Went Away is a story about the breakdown of a marriage. Short and ... er, well, not sweet ... but it is short.
Who I'd like to meet: Stephen King. I read the last page of "It", closed the book, sighed and said, "Damn, I wish I could write like that!" That's when I decided to try. I'm not there yet...all these years later, and that man can still scare the crap out of me! But a girl could do worse than to try to write like him. Besides, in his book, "On Writing", he coined the best, absolute best, phrase that I have ever heard: LITERARY GASBAGS!! Awesome!!
Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child. Their Agent Pendergast books absolutely rule. I love them, I love their other books, and I think that they, themselves, are absolutely fab! Love you guys!
Bruno, Margherita and Claudia. *big hugs* It WILL happen!!
David Beckham and Jeff Hardy, Gerard Butler, James MacAvoy, because they're ridiculously hot.
Hey since your our friend we figured we would let you know that we have some new songs up. Feel free to check them out. We also put up two videos on YOUTUBE. Tides & reason I got the blues. Hope you enjoy. your Friends Makeshift Innocence
How come there's no tune on this page? The possibilities are endless. Paperback Writer, Thriller, er, erm... surely something by the Ramones... Book of Dreams by Suzanne Vega... ok, maybe not "endless," but....
Happy winter celebration to you, my friend! And a cheer for creativity! Let everything and the words flow! Here's to prosperity to you in the coming year! And the best to you always! Love, Zoomar
