I believe in dreams. You know, the ones you kick back in the bed face up and think about over and over again. I finally get what my first grade teacher meant when she said, Toy, you can be anything you want to be in life. I laugh now because that blanket statement was corny but true.

Who knew that in 2005 after losing a job that I worked so hard to keep, that I would be an Essence Best Selling author 2 years later? Unlike so many of my sisters and brothers in the pen, I never dreamed of anything other than success. Success at what…I didn’t know. But I can say in all honesty that being an author was not something I aspired to do.

Don't misunderstand me. I’ve always been a hard worker but my work was never appreciated. I feel whatever you put your time in, should be fruitful.

So, it is with great pride that I venture out on my own. I plan on pouring everything into The Cartel Publications because I believe in my fans, I believe in my authors, and I believe in myself.

In each book we publish, you’ll see the realness, but you’ll also feel the love. We believe in paying homage to those who’ve paved the way. We believe in taking time to thank the book clubs, the readers and the up and coming authors who need a chance but can’t seem to get a break. And most of all, we believe in you.
