About me: The South Bend Chapter of the Autism Society of North Central Indiana (ASNCI)
was formed by a group of families with young children on the autism spectrum.
Our main objectives are:
Increasing autism awareness, and the importance of
early intervention for treatment of autism, in the community
Helping other families in the community by providing support
and information about available resources in the community
Working to increase the availability of early intervention services
to all families in the community, regardless of income,
through fundraising efforts and community involvement.
April is Autism Awareness Month! It is also a chance to applaud and celebrate those we know and love on the spectrum for all that they are and all that they do to try and navigate through the world.
Lets not forget all of the parents, teachers, doctors, friends and adults on the spectrum who work so hard 24/7, 365 days a year to bring about better education, acceptance and understanding.
The journey may not be easy, but remember that you are not alone! Hugs and Blessings (in April and always), Tricia
Fundraiser for Autism Society of Minnesota It’s never too early for Santa. Check out information about the Eden Prairie Women of Today Santa Letter program online at www. epwt. org/santa. pdf. Parents or other relatives send in a form with information about their child and we send back a personalized letter from Santa in December. As a parent - it is amazing to watch a child as they read a letter from Santa! "How does he know that" is a common response to the information that the parents had provided. The letters can be sent anywhere in the world! This year all proceeds will be donated to the Autism Society of Minnesota.
Online friends are people we may never meet.... We see pictures, we see cams... It isn't the same.... We grow close... We care and love one another.... One day we may not hear from one another.... Our hearts will break... All we see is a name on messenger but the person we don't see anymore...
We pray... "Please come back".... All I ask is you remember me in the good times we had..... Keep me close to your heart... Friends forever...
Pass this on to all your friends... If I get it back... I know you care with love, .....
Thanks for always being my friend...... hugzzzzzz....

First rock opera about autism in the country! This production touches on so many of the challenges faced by all those who love someone with autism. From first getting the diagnosis, to the self doubt and blaming, to the marital strain, the view is unflinchingly real. Through the poignant songs, the stories of the families, including the siblings, are told without judgment. Seemingly small moments for the rest of the world, the utterance of a single word, the ability to accept a loving touch, the acquisition of the most basic of skills, all take on a special joy that only those who know autism can grasp. Through all the tribulations, the fears, the anger, somehow hope shines through.
