“The new album is, simply,......STUNNING. It’s absolutely fabulous......not a bad, even semi-mediocre track on it.” – Bruce Brodeen Not Lame Recordings
“David Doll's new band Automat is the definition of a great power pop band...
with more hooks than a seeside bait shop” 9/10 www.powerpopaholic.com
“A groovy EP with hints of The Beatles, The Monkees and Squeeze, and if this EP is sign of what is yet to come, we can't wait to hear the full length debut! Plenty of "La La La"'s and harmonies, laced with sugary melodies!” – Popbang Radio
"Four slices of top-notch, sweet-as-honey, hook-filled, guitar-pop oozing a real 80’s/Brit New Wave feel that’s over way, way too soon! We want more! Can’t say enuff about this one! Great!!" - Kool Kat Musik
Hailing from North London Automat have just recorded one of the best albums you'll hear this year. Their material pulls together all the best elements of pop both past and present resulting in a dazzling set of clever, diverse, melodic and infectious songs that carry the definite stamp of class. "I'm a big fan of musical diversity. It's so easy to get bored when you hear a new record because a lot of the time it sounds like it's been made to a blueprint, with each one sounding like the one before. I try and work to the idea that it doesn't really matter about the musical style of a song, the fact I've written it and am singing it, means that there is a common thread through the whole record which holds it together, and makes you want to listen to it again and again" says Automat's singer and songwriter David Doll. "We try to not wear our musical influences too much on our sleeves, but sometimes it's impossible to escape. Hopefully, we manage to take more of the essence of people whose music we have loved, mix it up a bit and spit it out as a great Automat song rather than an ok rip off of whoever."
Automat have been together a little under a year and they are fast becoming a fearsome live proposition adding a sharp, muscular edge to David's songs. "Surrounding yourself with people that make you comfortable when you play is really important, this line up certainly does that" David says. Audiences seem to agree too and Automat is picking up fans both domestically and international by strong word of mouth.
