About me:

Achtung: Es gibt keine Tatsachen, es gibt nur Interpretationen.

First, roll call!: I'm a senior double majoring in Psychology and Philosophy with minors in French and Communication at the University of Scranton. (Oh yes, THAT Scranton—we've got anthracite coal and the world's largest pothole).

Anyway, I'm teetering precariously at that pre-real-world precipice just before plunging into grad school, where I'd like to get my Ph.D. in something (maybe?) neuroscience-related. I've no clue what sort of career I'd want—though I'm thinking perhaps a psychologist or professor or researcher or, most likely, something fantastical of which I've not yet conceived. Still, leaving behind the academic life to open a coffee shop/bookstore in the south of France sounds mighty nice. Oh, expatriation...

I’m quirky (and a tad neurotic)—but embrace it fully. And I’ve never lost that sense of awe and wonder for the world around me and the extreme improbability and beauty of our existence. I like pretentious semicolons and staccato dashes (sprinkled with emphatic ..italics..) and adore long, convoluted conversations with wildly unpredictable tangents (and, more so, the people with whom I can retrace these tangential paths). I love to write, have to use my fingers to count, and really like studying French even if I'll never have any practical use for it.

Meh, I'm still not really sure what I hope to "get" out of life, and I'm trying my best to not internalize the values of the materialistic society in which I live. But I seem to exist on a different wavelength from most other people, and I periodically feel like an old man trapped in the body of a 22 year old. My personality is fluid and evolving, and I'm probably the most open-minded person I know. And I really like teaching people the sign language for "abortion" and "microwave," usually in that order.

I loved spinach before it was pathogenic.

Did I mention I'm hopelessly, rapturously, shamelessly addicted to movies?

And crystal meth.

Who I'd like to meet:

Anyone who adores "American Beauty," "Amélie," "Magnolia," "Chinatown," "2001: A Space Odyssey," "Talk to Her," "Wallace and Gromit," "Breaking the Waves," "Fargo," AND "Kill Bill" as much as I do, PLUS Vonnegut's novel "The Sirens of Titan" ANNNND TV's "Arrested Development" (ALL three seasons required).

Additionally, one should have a passing familiarity with Fellini, Bergman, "Sweeney Todd" (2005 Broadway Revival ONLY), "Strangers with Candy," "The Office" (preferably the original British version—though I suppose I'm willing to accept the American), "Angels in America," and Tori Amos. And if you don't love Meryl Streep, don't even bother.

Oh. And one should be able to get the references in my user name and headline.

I have an opportunity tonight to do 20 minutes of performance in an open mike night at the resort I work at. There will be some Barry Manilow tunes in there, and one song from a myspace friend. He's a musician who sent me the track to one of his songs I love dearly, "My True Love". Stay in touch, Michael.
    -here and maybe text me

This appears an apt follow-up parodying that last comment.

Yeah, that was neat. All those statistics make me feel cold and detached.

I know you're not exactly a Giacchino lover but this is a pretty cool video about his scoring sessions.

I found it! hah! and an article mentioning its censoring in the very episode we watched!

If we're going to be in love you should really lament my failures to hold in high regard men who wear funny hats and those who speak dead languages. Everyone likes you and nobody likes me, so I think we should remain good friends.

Please forgive me for leaving our convo so quickly. But you're still wrong.
