Avenue started around March 2006 with Jimmy Pineda, Bean Weasel and David Luna. After his 10 year run with Drastic Actions, Luna had songs that had been written and put away for years. In 2005 he slept on couches, garages, floors, etc to save up for the upcoming Avenue project, which will later prove to be more than that. In early 2006, after purchasing musical equipment and a reliable vehicle, Luna, Bean and Jimmy got together to throw out a demo, which was called "Fresh Cuts/ Old Scars".
Luna- " We practiced for about two weeks and head down to the valley to record a 6 song demo, it came out ok for the amount of time we had to set up for it, I never even heard the songs live, they were just lyrics and acoustic guitar... we did all but the vocal tracks in one day, drank all night, I passed out around 7am and they woke me up at 8am to do the vocals, which would explain all the high pitched scratchyness, and if you listen closely you can even catch a few dry heaves...(laughs)."
The bands first show was in the Valley with The Quakes, the 2nd show was with the US Bombs, they've also got to share the stage with the Lower Class Brats, The Ghouls, The Hollow Points, The Heart Attacks, Murphys Law, The Booked, The Rocketz, Total Chaos, The Krum Bums, Konflicto, Whole Wheat Bread, Mark Linksey & The Street Corner Matadors, The 13th Victim, Lethal Agression, Drink Fight Thugs, Hellstown Rebels, The Koffin Kats, etc. After alot of changes in the line up throughout their first year, Avenue is now home for Roy Gomez, Glenn Howard and Woody, and even more intense and enraged with street punk rock n roll fury. With true story songs about life, love, death, sex, booze, skateboards, pogoing, and offstage antics, it's been a good year and they are looking forward to more shows, touring, and puke.
