UK based bands like Japan, Bowie, No Man, Brian Eno, Robert Fripp, Bill Nelson, The Associates, early Simple Minds and Cabaret Voltaire to the European Surrealist and Dadist movements with visionaries such as Jean Cocteau, Salvador Dali, Yves Tanguy and Francis Picabia. More up to date influences include Autechre, FSOL, etc.
The musical collective known as " Avida Dollars " was formed in early 2001in Adelaide, Australia by two like minded musicians Paul Smyth and Paul Cartwright. The two met and bonded through a like minded love of music. Their influences ranged from UK based bands like Japan, NoMan, Brian Eno, Robert Fripp, Bill Nelson, The Associates, early Simple Minds and Cabaret Voltaire to the European Surrealist and Dadist movements with visionaries such as Jean Cocteau, Salvador Dali, Yves Tanguy and Francis Picabia.
Avida Dollars have been very active recording a full length album, a soundscape E.P. as well as remixing for various projects. The two musicians are a perfect blend and almost musical bookends. Smyth has an extensive knowledge of technology and and amazing ability with audio treatments, whilst Cartwright adds his talents on a variety of instruments such as Fretless Bass, Electric and Acoustic guitars and Keyboards.
After their great debut release "Fantasia Meccanica", the italian act HIDDEN PLACE return with an all new and long-expected album! "PUNTO LUCE" continues along the same pathtraced by its predecessor. Deep sonorities are alternated with moments of emotionalism and refinement, underlined above all by more atmospheric sounds, that constantly influence this album. Harmonious female vocals from the beautiful singer Sara Lux are opposed with the cold tones of the vocoder. An elegant mix of electro and new wave give a precise evocation of art, of the painting of a picture, of the beauty of colours and light.
The album also features vocal and mixing contributions from Gaby Nekro of NEKRODAMUS.
