I love music. I play (if that is what you call it) bass guitar, but I am not in a band at the present moment. I do have a few options that might open up soon however. I need to utilize my free time (HA!) to practice my scales and work harder at being a more proficient player. WKU Football has been my passion for many many years. I have played since I was in 5th grade for my "elementary" team. Played in high school and one year (on the practice squad) at Western. It is what I loved, at least until I got hurt - knees. Now I leave the playing for Sunday afternoon pickup games with the neighborhood and am more of a spectator for most games now. I know my wheels feel better about this decision. But I still want to get out there and hit somebody! Other than that, I listen to music (generally Hard Rock) on my Ipod, helping my kids with their homework, helping out around the house (Yes I do cook and clean - just ask my wife) and travel. But I don't get to do that as much as Cheryl does - she is my little world traveler! We attend church regularly, eat at the local Mexican dive, hang out with our friends grilling out usually, or watching movies!
  • Music

Ok, here is where my true glimpse into who I am lies. I am a rocker (wanna-be) head-banger! Yet I listen to a variety of music. I actually have recording credits on a real CD - Jackie Whitaker's "Back on My Way". This was the band I was in until this past fall. It was a blast, the band mates were awesome! Good luck Jackie! Anyway my musical influences are long and diverse: Metallica, Guns N Roses, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Dropkick Murphys, Webb Wilder (The Idol of Idle Youth), Rush, P.O.D., Big & Rich (yes Country music), Gretchen Wilson (She's kinda cute), AC/DC, Aerosmith, The Beatles, Cake, Dave Matthews Band (what an incredible group of musicians), Extreme, Flogging Molly, Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page, Pearl Jam, Peter Gabriel, Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2 and Van Halen. Yet I do listen to classical, a bit of jazz, and even some rap (although the current stuff is crap!).
  • Movies

I really dig movies, especially horror movies. I watched "the Exorcist" when I was 12 and it scared the crap outta me. So it is the GOLD standard of my basis for horror movies I watch. Not many have lived up to it but there are a few - Thirteen Ghosts, Hellraiser, Se7en, Stir of Echoes. My most beloved movies are Amadeus, Stripes, Young Frankenstein, and Monty Python's Holy Grail. I can just about quote the entire scripts. Fight Club, Star Wars (all of them), Dazed and Confused, Pulp Fiction, Dogma, The Brothers McMullen, Clerks are all in my collection. And will be watching them over and over again.
  • Television

This is where I live, earn my keep and spend some QT with my lovely bride! We have standing weekly "dates" for a few shows: Medium on Mondays (when there is no football), Numbers on Fridays, The Daily Show AND the Colbert Report (It's French, bitch!) and Law & Order, NCIS, CSI whenever they are on. But thank God for the DVR, we record most of these and sit in bed and watch them when we can. It isn't the most romantic time, but we are together and even though we aren't ALWAYS talking during the shows - it is time well spent. There are a few shows that I am into that she isn't however. I try to catch Wanted on TNT (nice plug huh guys?), The Shield, Rescue Me, Rollergirls is just fascinating to me, and any show about cars.
  • Books

..What are books? No, I do have a few books but they generally are used for keeping things flat. The books I have are good ones but I don't read that much anymore. I do read Al Franken's books that keep me entertained and have opened my eyes to the corruption of the current Administration. Which has spurned me into reading more political issues and caused my newly acquired LIBERAL (human) slant on my beliefs and convictions. Give Jack Cafferty's book, "It's getting Ugly Out There" try for humor and insight on network news. I read books on mythology. Whether it be Celtic, Norse, Greek or even Pirate lore. It is all fascinating to me. I have lots of books about my job - using and being a better user of After Effects, Photoshop, and Flash. So on this aspect I am generally quite boring.
  • Heroes

..I don't have "heroes" I guess. There are people that I admire one part of their lives and try to bring that quality into mine. But I am my own guy too. I do try to live up to the standards that my wife and kids hold for me. It is not always easy but if I were to try to a hero for someone - they would certainly be it. There are also folks I use some of their not-so-great traits to give me motivation on what NOT to do and be. Those people will not be named or pointed out for obvious reasons. So, I guess that the closest "hero"/model for my life would have would be Jesus Christ. He is my model of how to treat other people with compassion - even when they don't deserve it. But he is also selfless - making certain others are taken care of before himself. I try to live by this guideline - I don't always meet it (right Honey?) but I try.

About me:

OK, who am I? Why does anyone care? Do people actually read this? Well anyway, here is a bit about me. Enjoy! I am a happily married man to the woman I was destined to be with. My wife and I have been married for 17 years (DAMN that is a long time)! It hasn't always been easy - ask her, she'll tell you! But I cannot imagine my life without her in it. We have two really great kids - Ben and Emily. They are different as night and day but we wouldn't change them for the world. Although if we can get Emily to pick up her stuff a bit more, we wouldn't complain. With college rapidly approaching for Ben and Emmy playing club volleyball, we are the typical busy as hell parents. Not to mention about Ben driving now - but he is very responsible thus far. I am a video editor for a company that services several big cable networks - so it is a cool job! It truly beats working for a living. I like to go to Atlanta Thrashers games (GO THRASHERS), play my bass, watch movies and listen to music. See below for more about those. My family attends church at a new place for us but have found open arms and many welcoming people.

Who I'd like to meet:

Anyone that I can be friends with (within reason) that might share any of the same interests that I do. But if I really wanted to MEET anyone from any time in history, I guess it would be Beethoven, James Jamerson (awesome bass player from MoTown), Jesus (of course) or Tom Landry.
