Sounds Like
A Mix of Everything... Something that you've never heard before... MORELYFE is mixture of lyrical Dancehall Reggae and a Consciousness element wth a teaspoon of a wicked shotta flow... JAE-$EPH is a combination of an early 90s flow with a smogosboard of quantum lyrical storytellin' metaphoric wordplay... PRO is a punchline powerhouse mixed with the grit of the New York swag and clever in his methodical delivery... YOUNG JUVITO is fusion of puzzling punchlines and lyrical wizardry mashed with an unorthodox rhyme schematic...
The Bronx is famous for it's development of hip-hop music. The “hip-hop” world we know today must thank the Bronx for all it as done for them and others alike. Acts like Mary J. Blige, Swizz Beats, KRS-One, Melle Mel, Fat Joe, Big Punisher, even Al Pacino and Woody Allen have come from the Bronx and continued its legacy throughout entertainment via media. DJ Kool Herc, who is from Kingston, Jamaica, applied his skills to music and developed, what we call today, the break-beats and scratches. Jamaicans have flocked to the Bronx in massive numbers; taken over various parts of the Bronx (White Plains Road, etc.). The Notorious B.I.G. and Jay-Z’s mothers were of Jamaican descent and it is often said that their rapping styles are attributed from their Jamaican heritage. Hip-Hop? Jamaica? Yes, it actually goes hand and hand.
It is no wonder why The Aviators Plenum are the next to continue the legacy of the Boogie Down. All three members carry a distinct factor that seems to rub off of emcees of Jamaican descent. That Voice. That sound that mixes the same sounds from Bob Marley, Toots and the Maytals, Buju Banton and Shabba Ranks and fuse with that hip-hop “Origin” sound. That sound that you can only get being from the Bronx.
It starts with Young Juvito Aule Aix….
Born at Jacobi Medical, August 26, 1985, from parents, both of Jamaican descent, has a wickedly clever way of relating words to one another. He purposely puzzles his listeners to create the “rewind effect” in his verbal joust. He, deliberately, hints during an oncoming metaphor to prepare his listener to think in advance, and then come to find out, he means something else. And then pauses at the end of the line for your reaction… and continues his lyrical onslaught. His rhyme scheme is sometimes difficult to catch, but it’s done on purpose to keep the listener bumping his/her head to the lyrics, not the beat so much. And at the same time, he rides the beat gloriously, flowing smoothly during every transition.
Next is Jae-$eph…
Also, born of Jamaican parents, arrived on January, 2 1984, he gives a metro, retro, ghetto style. More of substance and soul than his counterparts. An “elixir” type of a flow that sounds like Rakim and Rick fused into one. Multi-dimensional in his range of categories discussed in just one song, but still remains on topic. A deep thinker with depth in his craft. In many of his passages, you can hear that he complicates something simple, like Shakespeare or Edgar Allen Poe, who is also from the Bronx. While it can be said like this, he says it like that, which makes his listeners make that face. (You’ll know when you make it.)
And lastly, Morelyfe…
Born of Jamaican parents and born in Jamaica on August 4th, 1987, he clashes vivaciousness and ballads at the same time. Persona a la multi. His sound is like a fusion of love and war assisting each other in a battle between right and wrong. Weird, isn’t he? Pure patois in his delivery gives him uncharted authenticity. You can actually see of what he speaks of when spoken to. While it’s seen that he’s still finding himself, it amplifies his cryptic mind to thoughts once overlooked and never mentioned. His flaws are his strengths.
And when combined, this hip-hop/reggae (and sometimes genre conflicting) virtuosos create that Bronx sound evolved. That sound hip-hop has been missing these last few years. Music sales are on the decline and many believe it’s the internet to blame. Many believe that there isn’t hip-hop anymore like it use to be; that hip-hop died a long time ago. But the Bronx, whom started hip-hop, is ready to re-start it all over again… And it starts with the Aviators Plenum…
