Avril Lavigne Bandaids was founded on April 24th 2002, making it the first ever Avril Lavigne fansite. It started as a one-woman operation run by Ashley in Kingston, Ontario (just 20 minutes from Napanee) on Yahoo's Groups service.Bandaids became well-known for its wealth of media, pictures, and exclusive audio. After reaching 2000 members, it became apparent that Yahoo could no longer hold all that Bandaids had to offer so on April 4th 2003 the new site at Avrilbandaids.com was launched, along with the Avril Bandaids forums. Bandaids' member count grew quickly due to our daily updates, active message boards, and supply of the latest media. Since that time a lot of things have changed - a number of our original staff have moved on, Sharifa is now the Chief Web Officer of the site, and nineteen new individuals have joined the team - but one thing has remained the same: Bandaids is the largest and most active Avril Lavigne fansite! Currently we are on our fourth layout, and have reached a staggering 160,000 members. We have the the largest Avril Fan Forums online, our Galleries contain the largest collection of Avril pictures anywhere (containing over 178,000 images), and in our Articles Archive, one can find pretty much every single article ever written on Avril. We have been mentioned on MTV, VH1, Much Music, Launch.com, in Kerrang! Magazine, and in a number of Avril-specific publications.
The name "Bandaids" is taken from the classic movie Almost Famous. "We're not groupies, we are here for the music; we are Band Aids." Bandaids' follows the same philosophy - we're here for the music. Essentially, we aid Avril by promoting her and providing a community for her fans.
