Awaiting Dawn is a band from the middle-rhine-area which has been formed in 2005 by members of different former bands. Their style can be classified as a mixture between Progressive Metal, Melodic Metal and Alternative Rock... It is based on fast and fulminating drums, extensive driving bass-lines and falls in place with complex, interdigitating guitars with rapid solos and catchy riffs in addition to often raspy but always melodic vocals. What marks out the style is mostly high speed times, many dynamic contrasts and progressive elements like change of measure and time, as well as difficult figures. Thereby they always try to create catchy songs and cover a wide range of sometimes more progressive and sometimes more simple-structured titles. Most of the songs deliver a melancholic atmosphere, for they are very emotional and deal with love, pain, despair and confusion. Awaiting Dawn actually is not exactly fitting in any category and does not want to be categorized into some certain subgenre of Metal / Rock; in fact, they simply play their very own music. -
