Steve Peters is the only constant. Bill Pompilii and Steve Schwegler were my past drummers; David Nowell is a longtime songwriting collaborator. The CHEMISTRY CD has contributions by Paul Elliott, Nils Odhner, and Bianca Alu.
Influences
Yes, The Beatles, Radiohead, They Might Be Giants, The Police, Peter Gabriel-era Genesis, Gentle Giant, King Crimson, Steve Howe, Chris Squire, Jon Anderson, Bill Bruford, Peter Banks, John Wetton, Thomas Dolby (Golden Age of Wireless period), Tool (Lateralus period)
Sounds Like
Yes songs as if they were performed by "Weird Al" Yankovic or They Might Be Giants. Strange combination, I know.
Steve Peters is a comic book creator who won a Xeric Award for his title Awakening Comics in 1996. He also created a Native American-flavored spiritual adventure series called Everwinds for Amaze Ink around that same time.
In 2000, he formed a band to record music to serve as soundtracks for his comic books. He pressed his first CD, PARADOX, in 2001, but didn't get around to publishing its companion comic, RUNNER'S PARADOX, until 2007.
He published the CHEMISTRY comic book and the CHEMISTRY soundtrack CD in 2005. The CHEMISTRY comic/CD combo went on to win the Howard Eugene Day Prize at the SPACE convention in Columbus, Ohio in 2006.
In 2006, the THE ORIGIN OF SPARKY comic was published, along with a 5-song soundtrack EP.
Wow, it's great to see you here! I got the comics you sent.thanks so much! and Wow, they're really great! I love your students contributions! And your comics were really interesting as well. Your little excerpt from Paradox was fascinating. I must get it. I haven't been on Comic Space for months. I lost my pass word and despite numerous times to contact them have not been able to get back into my account. any way it's great to see you here. Best wishes!
