..AWFUL NOISE: "Bug Eyes"...... .. .. .. .. ......Add to My Profile.. | .. More Videos.. ..Bio of AWFUL NOISE.. ..(a review by www.metal-observer.com).. ..I hadn’t yet the pleasure to listen to this German, pardon, Sorbian* band and their debut EP “Mojahara” is unknown to me as well. But right after the first spin, I had to admit honestly, that it’s a shame that I’m not familiar with the history of AWFUL NOISE. In fact, this four headed band already plays the German underground since 1995, although there had been several line-up changes within the years... ..One incising change was obviously the change on the second vocal position. Besides Peter Ziesch (vocals and guitars), there is now Tino Dernehl responsible for co-shouting, guitar and violin duties and he can completely convince with his performance. To add is the as well perfect rhythm section performance, which consists of Ronald Reisener (drums) and André Kober (bass) and leaves no soundfill open. Furthermore, there are guest appearances on cello and violin and AWFUL NOISE don’t stop for occasionally used keyboards, too. It’s a colourful mixture, whose elements perfectly complements each other and actually don’t underline the band name, because there’s nothing awful or horrible... ..This is absolutely right and if this wasn’t enough, they offer also worth knowing and praiseworthy stuff in terms of lyrics. Instead of using only one language (German would be probably the easiest way), English and Sorbian lyric passages are interchanging, which serves of course the variety. The five tracks on “Reincanation” are first-class and convince with their diversity. With „Serbskatolska“, they placed a pretty fashioned New Metal track on the first position until then the Sorbian language appears for the first time and there’s a slight Folk feeling underlying. The following “Plateau” falls perfectly into line and is a good attack until it drifts away into other dimensions due to some melancholic intermezzos. Deliberateness and aggression go hand in hand on AWFUL NOISE without to harm each other. Also the beautiful “Sweet” is there no exception and despite its heavy eruptions, it always remains radio compatible. That’s not meant in a negative sense but with this songs, they could also reach fans outside of the Heavy Metal universe... ..“Undo The Undone” reminds with its beginning vocals of Peter Steele but this blurs as soon as the instruments introduce. The changes between calmer and heavier passages are functioning on song number four, too and also the closer „Zrudna Kermusa“ is there no exception. Just with the little difference that especially that last song is the most outstanding on “Reincarnation”. The folky sounds of the violins are uniquely and more than recommendable besides the heavy, thick guitars and the always changing vocals. Be assured, this band has a great future and one just have to cross the fingers for their next release. One thing, I also want to mention, if you Metalheads can’t find this album in the record store around the corner, please don’t give up, just ask the band personally. It’s worth for it, no doubt... ..* Sorbian: together with Polish, Slovak and Czech, it belongs to the West Slavonic language sort, which is a sub language of the Slavonic language sort. This language is used in some areas of the Spree forest and the Lausitz area in Eastern Germany, which is once again divided in Above Sorbian (around 50.000 people speaking that) and Upside Sorbian (around 20.000 people). Sorbian is there equated to German and some people use it as primary language, too. The history of this language goes back to the year 1000 and for most Sorbs, this language is the symbol of their national identity. Even though the influence of the Sorbian language will decrease due to modern communication, it will be always a lively cultural language. To keep up this language, AWFUL NOISE decided to fight against the decline of this cultural important language with their music.
