Hallo myspace robots. I am your local jazz piano, funky keyboards and Cambodian mouth-harp specialist. A veteran musician with over 10 years of playing experience under my belt, I have been lucky enough to share the stage with such artists as Leisure Lab, the Ten Souljers, Jessi Nicholson, the Sam Davidson Quartet, Hibino Shinichi, Takahashi Hideshi, Watanabe Akihito, Namnai, and Groove Therapy in venues both in Canada and as far away as Japan and Bangladesh. I also hosted a weekly jazz-themed radio show for 4 years on CJSF Radio 90.1 FM called Parker's Mood, which featured eclectic selections from swing to bop to free jazz to modern and local offerings. The show was put on hold during my stint with Bushradio in South Africa, where I worked as an intern in the news and music deparment. Tracks and pics will be updated shortly, so check back soon. In the meantime enjoy the promo for my radio show, and a stereo reduction of a piece I wrote for 9 toy pianos (see blog for details). I've also added a short radio piece about youth and music in Capetown that aired on Bushradio 89.5 FM in mid-January 2007.
As of late last year, Parker's Mood has flown the bird to Montreal, where, after some hoop-jumping, it has re-emerged in the form of Jazz Euphorium and World Skip the Beat on CKUT radio 90.3 FM!!
I am continuing to expand my musical horizons through creative sound art and my participation in the Montreal-based Kalmunity Vibe Collective, purveyors of live & improvised organic jazz-funk-soul.
Turn the record over...!
