WHPR TV-33 and AWWL Big Time Wrestling have announced a deal that will
resurrect the Original Big Time Wrestling program back to Detroit
after a 35-year hiatus.
The program will be taped once a month at the TV-33 Studios in
Highland Park with all the show tapings being free with tickets
available on a first come first served basis the day of the taping or
through contests on TV-33 programs. The first taping will occur on
Saturday, November 14th at 6:00pm with the doors opening at 5:00pm.
WHPR TV-33 will air the program simultaneously on the web through
tv33whpr.com and on their station Saturday Nights at 8:00pm and Monday
Nights at 9:00pm beginning November 28th.
A spokesman for the AWWL states that the program will be a mix of
exclusive classic matches not seen on TV in more than 30 years
featuring legends such as The Sheik, Bobo Brazil, and Dick The Bruiser
as well as a mix of new stars for today’s generation such as AWWL
Heavyweight Champion, Whipdog Johnson, and the Human Highlight Reel
Sabu.
The program will be also competing on a local level on Monday Nights
with the WWE’s flagship show Monday Night Raw. The spokesman adds that
Detroit is still a hotbed for good family friendly wrestling action,
and it’s about time that someone has given the viewers a good
alternative on Saturday nights.
The new programs will incorporate cutting-edge material as well as fan
interaction on their website awwlstars.com. Fans are invited to see
the new show for free, but the tickets are limited. When they’re gone,
they’re gone.
