Sounds Like
THE FUTURE, techno, birds are stuck in my 303, it is dark - you are likely to be eaten by a grue, Underground Rave Party, fluffy kitten noises, the warehouse floor is about to collapse, nacho hat, that thing needs new batteries, raging giant robots destroying the earth, pie eating contest, Teletubbies, Grun totally wishes that he had Robot Hair, Hello Kitty fed through distortion, circle time, KRANG from TMNT
Axios is Grun and Ciganka, a duo from the Washington, DC area. Axios performs electronic dance music live, primarily within the genres of Acid Techno, Wonky Techno, Glitch, Chiptunes, Live Electronics and more. The Axios performance is computer free and is done entirely on our wide assortment of studio hardware, the majority of which is hand-built or hand-modified by us.
As a child, Ciganka enjoyed recording and manipulating sound through early digital recording systems. She would put these creations on tape and play them for anybody willing to humor her. During those years she also was involved in piano and music theory. Immersion in her family's ethnic musical background also provides an influence that helps her compose interesting and diverse music. Ciganka had the initial vision for Axios shortly after she began attending parties in 2000, and she is the driving force behind the shaping of the project. Her vision came from her love in the late 90's of Acid House and Techno, mixed with a strong interest in psychedelia and all things cute.
Grun played an innovative role as a DJ since 1999 when he started playing hardcore records in DC. The hardcore style was widely unheard of in the region, and through his performance he raised general awareness of this music. He went on to gig in DC numerous times including the prominent DC party Buzz and at the Edge, and went on to gig in 5 more states. In 2005 his interest in music and electronics finally led him to begin experimenting with live music production. This allowed him to bring together his love for music with his interest in electronic engineering. Working on modifying and creating analog electronic instruments, he provides Axios with the tools they need to shake the floor.
Together these two have teamed up to form Axios and have also founded Axios Records, with the goal of capturing the real vibe of underground rave culture and of creating innovative music to contrast with the abundance of diluted club-based music which has become standard in recent years.
Axios is now available for bookings of their live acid performance, chiptunes sets, and more.
DJ Grun is taking bookings for slower industrial/doomcore/newstyle DJ sets as well as more aggressive hardcore/breakcore DJ sets.
DJ Grun has made a new mix, it's a
split CD with the first mix (Side A) being Doomcore and the second
(Side B) being Breakcore. It's called "DJ Grun - Live in Ibiza 2017"
