Ayumi “ALMA" Ueda .. .. “Sing with Love and Gratitude….” Spiritual Singer/Healer, Ayumi Ueda .. .. Born and raised in Tokyo, Ayumi started singing with her father when she was 4. .. .. She got influenced with variety of music genres such as folk, country and ethnic music from all over the world., .. She spent a month in Australia as a junior diplomat and learned about aboriginal culture and music., .. .. At age 14, she won first prize at popular Japanese TV program, “Nodojiman Singer Competition” on NHK TV station. She decided to be a professional singer as her life work., .. .. She is active as a volunteer as well through music. She sung a song in support of the Shibuya Flower Project in the 2004, Earth Day Tokyo Event. In 2005, .. .. She participated in the Aichi Expo “Love the Earth” Citizen’s project opening event and sung with Yujin Kitazawa from the well-know Japanese pop group Yuzu., .. In January 2007, she enrolled in Berklee College of Music (Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A) with a scholarship from the North American World Scholarship Tour. .. .. Her performances after entering Berklee have been numerous both on and off campus. She performed at the International Folk Festival 2008, representing Japan with Keiko Ueda (Composer/Pianist) and Geni Skendo( Flutist). .. .. She received a huge response with her fusion of crystal singing bowls and traditional Japanese music. That year, she performed as a lead vocal at summer concert held in Carnegie hall, NY. .. In 2008, She started the international vocal group “ Women of the World” .They have been extensively performing all over Boston and the north east including “Hope For Haiti” an event organized by George Clooney, January 2010. The Women of the World believe in performing for world peace and unity through their music. .. .. May 2010, Ayumi graduated from the Berklee College of Music with a degree in Professional Music; courses emphasizing performance, researching world music, and music therapy. She also won the college’s first Walter W. Harp Liberal Arts Music and Society Award. .. At the Graduation Concert, she performed with World-Grammy Award singer, Angelique Kidjo as a headliner of the show. .. ..
