born 1969 in stuttgart, south germany, azido raised without a father which died in a truck accident when he was three years old. at the age of 14, he had to leave home and visited a boarding school in ravensburg. there, feeling lost and lonely, he got his first contact and ambition to listen to strange, psychedelic and "not so mainstream" music. while others listen to typical charts and hip/hop / breakdance music, he explored the sound of pink floyd, early yello works and also alien sex fiend - just to name some important influences. at 17, after graduating in school, he went back to stuttgart. his mother also died only a few weeks later, and he falled in a very depressive state. this was the time when he got open minded for the new wave scene, that just established in germany. those were people like him, kinda depressive, kinda psychotic and strange, with an attitude to shock normal people ,and he felt really home with this new family. soon after he started djing in stuttgarts famous wave-club odeon and became a resident dj there. meanwhile he was deeply addicted to the more electronical shades of wave music, and he became a true fan of bands like front 242, skinny puppy, the klinik,
front line assembly and so on (i guess you get the point..). but something still was missing in his life, so one day he and a friend went to hamburg, leaving all behind and starting a new life there. there he bought his first own synthesizer (a roland d20 which by the way still exists and is functional!) and produced several home-made tapes under the name metronome, reflecting the highs and lows of starting a new life from scratch and loads of weed abuse.. but the cool, rainy north of germany even made him more depressive and angry, so after 5 years he went back to stuttgart. there he soon got his first computer and began to experiment with the new sampling possibilities offered by the pc. he stopped working as metronome
(later he simply called it the hamburg years) and began to produce tracks as narcotique. this got some public attention, since one of the tracks called psycho circles was used for a demo video of unreal tournament 2003 as a soundtrack, which then got widespread over the web. finally, also the narcotique era got closed after one album, and since then he decided to release songs with his online identity azido.. until today, he never had the intention of producing music for a bigger audience; he just did it to reflect his innermost feelings into music. but now he is willing to share his music with you!
most of my creations are electronic soundscapes, something in between atmospheric soundtracks and industrial, noisy beats.. their target is to express my soul, my thinkings and my innermost feelings i have in certain moments of my life. it's not music in today's common sense; it don't has that typical pop song structure (although i also do such tracks) - it's more like catching a moment in your timeline, freeze everything and then watch you and your environment from a save place above..
it's the soundtrack of my life.. my girl says it sounds "green" - i don't exactly know what this means, she can't explain neither, but: if "green" means explaining an emotion she feels while listening to my songs the way the picture above does, she is absolutely right..
me, myself and i.. well, most of the time this is a real solo project. from time to time i'll force some people to contribute some creativity to my music, and sometimes i also do some collaborations with other musicians like i.e. j5rome.. but in fact i like the idea to control every aspect of my sounds on my own. you know the feeling that no other person is able to realize your very own vision on how something should sound? then you know why i do music for myself..
well, i really love music.. i've listend to many different acts/styles/genres in my lifetime, some went by without impressing me that much, others really influenced me and might be in my mind forever. one of the second ones is COIL; i have been addicted to their music from the very first song i listened to. they've even created their own universe in my brain! other big influences are MEAT BEAT MANIFESTO, JEAN-MICHEL JARRE (he was able to create melodies that really make me cry just from listening to them..), EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN (also known as COLLAPSING NEW BUILDINGS) because of their unique style, PINK FLOYD ("the wall" could be the story of my own life) and NINE INCH NAILS (trent reznor is a visionary god!).. there are many other bands i really like, but too much to mention them all.. if you want to see what's inside my cd-rack, check out the
inspiration section on my webpage, where you find the albums i own. this collection is far from being complete, but it already gives you a nice overview of what kind of music i like.
and finally some really cool people i found on myspace..
