Viet Huynh (pronounced like "hwin") was born and raised in Goose Creek, SC and began his stand-up comedy career in Atlanta, GA. Moving forward, Viet has used that initial positive buzz to quickly become a favorite at many comedy clubs and venues across the nation.
As co-founder of the Affirmative Action Comedy Showcase, Viet has helped put together several successful shows featuring local and national comedians of different races, sexes, and cultures. Viet balances his structural engineering career with a rigorous schedule of multiple performances each week at various comedy clubs and venues. By doing so he has created a new profession by the name of "Comedic Engineering"; the design and delivery of jokes and punchlines. Viet has shared the stage with many well known comedians and has won a few comedy competitions along the way. Viet was also a featured comic in the 2009 Laugh Your Asheville Off Comedy Festival.
Viet derives a lot of his humor from his life of being an Asian-American growing up in the South, the portrayal of Asians in the media, and relationship issues.
I added the lines about being gangsta and the environment to the hybrid escalade joke. Unfortunately, my set was really weak Saturday night because the crowd didn't seem into me. Plus, I drew 2nd after the "raffle" so they weren't good and drunk yet.
Thanks Viet, I just happened to check the site cuz someone asked me about it and I didn't realize they switched it. Wish they thought I was important enough for the email, haha. Thanks again!
