ATL. Home of so many things including, breaking rap artist, the most black owned record labels and of course the biggest strip club circuit in any city. Let’s add another. THE OPEN MIC. Currently there are no less than 20+ weekly open mics, showcases, and industry nights where an artist in the atl can “get their shine on”,and a undisputed name that goes hand and hand with the origin of the ATL open mic circuit is B.RICH. A native Atlantan, and North Atlanta High graduate; in the underground music network B.RICH’s name is definitely one that is as familiar as the words “grindin” and “networkin”. In 2003 Brich teamed up with Alfonzo Maze of Amazin Productions and started doing open mics, hiring now ATL widely known Akini tha Black Mac to host. The 3 enjoyed quick success, but as we all know happens quite often in the music biz, decided to go their separate ways after little more than a year. But B-RICH entertainment was off and running, and now with just 3 yrs under its belt is one the leading underground entertainment houses in Atlanta.
Branching in many directions, the entertainment company has become affiliated with Ga Durt, which host members such as Bohagan and Playboy Tre, and has also formed a partnership with northern based Defiant Records which is headed by Warner Music’s Greg Calloway, and the duo together are working on up and coming artist B.o.B & Willie Joe who is creating a huge buz in the Atlanta underground music market. If that wasn’t enough, B.Rich Ent also has established itself as a producing powerhouse, teaming with “The Klinic”, producing hard tracks such as the underground hit “The Cookie Man” by City, which came about when Brich suggested that City do a song about a lyric from a PlayBoy Tre song called Life. Brich states hard work, and keeping faith in people has helped him to keep pushin in this over competitive industry. Catch him at his new venue at the Trap House on Tuesdays as he presents On Deck Tuesdays which he predicts will take the atl open mic to another level. Keep doin ya do, B, the streetz are talking.
