"The Rap Guide to Evolution" 2009 Reviews:
"Brilliantly conceived and effervescently performed…not only is it factually correct, it's also dazzlingly intelligent…after seeing this show, you'll never look at a hip-hop music video in the same way again!" * * * * The Scotsman
"Brinkman is an excellent performer, combining the boyish energy of a rapper with the clever wit of a comedian and the intelligence of a lecturer to create an excellent production, which could be a new and exciting art form." * * * * FringeReview.com
"A mesmerizing performance, one that would probably do more to convince school children of evolution's validity than any BBC or PBS special could." Science Magazine
The name "Baba" comes from India, where it means "Father" usually signifying "Holy Man" or "Teacher". My dad gave me this name the day I was born, because he said I had a peaceful expression at birth, like I was a re-incarnated mystic... go figure.
I planted trees with the family biz in the wilderness of BC every summer for ten years (personally planting over one million seedlings), while paying my way through school and building my skills as an MC. I finished my Master's degree in English Literature in 2003 and since then I've been recording music, collaborating with other vocalists, musicians and producers, and performing rap and poetry around the world, making my living as an independent artist.
In 2007 I started a record label, Lit Fuse Records, and signed Aaron Nazrul, whose critically-acclaimed debut solo album "Butterfly Man" is now available. The most recent addition to the Lit Fuse family is Smoky Tiger, whose video for "The Tree Planter's Waltz" is above.
All of my previous albums are available through the iTunes Music Store: Lit-Hop, The Rap Canterbury Tales, and Swordplay, just type my name into a search, or click this link: iTunes Music Store

A friend was at the Edinburgh festival. I get CD's rammed in my hand all the time its always nice when something is refreshing. Would you mind if I passed it on to a couple of majors or are you all sorted in that department?
yo the rap guide to evolution is the most outrageous shit ive ever heard. its mad fat. i cant believe you flipped "i'm an african". that was bold as fuck. infact i cant beleive you rolled with that concept for an entire album and gave it out for free. of all the shit i thought i'd ever hear on an underground rap cd i never expected social darwinism. hella innovative. mad props
