Well over a decade ago, RMF Record’s favorite British expatriate and twisted genius behind the avant-rock group Rectal Stogie, the incomparable Paul Holmes wondered aloud, after watching a Ren & Stimpy cartoon wherein a ferocious baboon is charged with guarding a steaming pile of hog jowls, what it would be like to unleash one’s own Baboon Nature. Well, we here at RMF Records are pleased to be able to offer the answer, albeit musical, to Paul’s question: You start a free-improv group with two stellar drummers, you ad in a cast of equally adept and aggressive sidemen, and you play the shit out of you instruments.
Baboon Nature was formed in the fall of 2004. Its goal was simple, to take the concept of baboon nature, which is a sort of hysterical ferocity, and translate it into music. The initial incarnation of the group included the core trio of Chris Cretella (guitars), Dave Parmelee (drums) and Michael Paolucci (drums) along with auxiliary member Nick Antolini (tenor sax). In keeping with the nature (literally) of the name, the group engaged in a sort of…gorilla…I mean guerilla music making. The strategy was to set up, play relentlessly, and stop with no rehearsals and no planning of musical events. This remains, to this day, the ethos of a Baboon Nature event. The current line-up trades in Nick (who has since made egress to South Korea) for bassist, keyboardist, and electronicsist Nolan Voss, and keyboardist, guitarist, mando-bird whiz Ben Erickson. The music is a mutant form of German fire music, tritone laden death metal, hard funk, and ecstatic drumming. Shows are fast, fierce, and always strive to leave listeners feeling like they went ten rounds with a ferocious Mandrill and the players’ fingertips and hands red as the most virulent baboon’s buttocks.
RMF Records is proud to be able to unleash Baboon Nature upon its listening audience. We hope that by doing so, we will encourage our listeners to get in touch with their own baboon nature. Now, if we could only get the band to where baboon suits….

I've been having fun on this page, listening to the tracks as I edit a paper striving to improve upon current MIMO technology. Man what I've been playing lately has been so sterile by comparison.
I'm a big fan of Sample track 1 and it's nice to hear some of the new and the old. What's this RMF records? No Rehab?
