John Boursnell does important live things like playing the ukulele and preventing feedback. He also mixed the End of the Night Loops EP for me!

First played in 2001 in London and then moved to Norwich. We play fairly often in Norwich, mainly at the Arts Centre, though if anyone wants to offer us a gig in another part of the country I will make a portable version of all my junk. I make live loops from a variety of objects, some of which are instruments, but I’m mainly interested in the sounds you can get out of other things. My current favourite toy is a silver plated tray attached to a contact mic.
RELEASES:
ILYA & EMILIA FOR EXAMPLE (March 2008): a new track ’Lady Bower Reservoir’ on a lovely compilation CD.
END OF THE NIGHT LOOPS (August 2007): a 30 minute collection of loops recorded between 2006 and 2007. These are the results of the gradual layering of sounds during a performance. It isn’t on the Ilya and Emilia website yet, but should be soon!
BEE EP (August 2006): 23 minutes of music and field recordings, including Aubert and Sawdust. It’s available at www.ilyaandemilia.co.uk. All the packaging is handmade, and held together with a ribbon.
DOUBLE BOW (November 2006): Quartet is a track I made for an installation at a gallery in Stroud in December. It was produced by playing a glass, a strip of metal, a shelf bracket, and a metal tank with a violin bow. High frequencies, but you get used to it! Also lots of fun to make.
Thanks for looking,
Holly
