Friends of Jamaica –
Jamlink Launches Membership Program “because Jamaica matters”
To our Jamaican network of over 85,000 and everyone who has a special affinity for Jamaica, Jamlink invites your participation in our 2009 “BECAUSE JAMAICA MATTERS” Campaign.
Last year, you were introduced to the 4th R Methodology and the Citizen Reports anti-crime Initiative, and we announced our unwavering commitment and optimism towards Jamaica’s future.
We have also formed a synergy with Balion Music - a collaboration aimed at improving the face of the Jamaican music industry, and incubator for local and inner-city talents while providing the necessary disciplines for artistic and career development. This co-operative style campaign not only shares the benefits of increased local exposure – it also provides funding towards a Local Hub at
123 Hagley Park Road in Kingston.
The Hub in Jamaica will serve as a Local Training Facility for the following: A multimedia-media center for developing and broadcasting cultural content;
The Balion Music School of Reggae for artistic and professional development;
A venue for staging local talents, cultural events and live performances.
In a nutshell, the 2009 “BECAUSE JAMAICA MATTERS” Campaign is a relationship between Jamlink and local venues, to organize and stage the following:
Cultural events and live performances
Backyard cookouts and social gatherings
Radio, T.V. and live Internet broadcasts
“If we continue to wait on others to make the first move, there may be no movement at all”
2009 will see it all come together – and as we launch our Membership Program to help advance our Initiative, we are asking for your participation and continuous support as we work to move Jamaica forward.
Membership Benefits:
- As a valued Jamlink member, you will gain direct access to our Partner-Network of over 85,000 Jamaicans around the globe via our monthly newsletter.
- And you will be listed in Jamlink.com online directory under Network of Supporters – a component that specifically highlights you and your areas of expertise.
Membership Cost: The annual fee for membership is US$25
In addition to becoming a member, your contribution of $25 will not only help towards the transformation of Jamaica. After 18 months it will be converted to a stake in the venture based on the par value and current valuation.
Commitments from all our previous supporters will be honored under the same provisions.
This Initiative is a Public-Private Partnership between, Jamlink and partner-network of supporters; and Vonergy Incorporated - a 501(c) (3) charitable organization established to promote cohesive advocacy among Jamaicans living overseas, with primary focus on creating educational, economic and personal opportunities for low–income and technology-impoverished communities throughout Jamaica.
P.S. -- This is your opportunity to help put Jamaica back together, not only that we may have a place of our own when we feel the need to return home, but to keep "home" on the path to development, for the sake of our families who remain there, for those who have no option but to stay, and for those who have no wish to leave.
Jamlink remains committed to advancing the prospects for all Jamaicans, not only for those of us overseas but those in Jamaica as well. Your relationship with Jamlink not only increases the level of participation and social bonding among Jamaicans – but further accelerates local development efforts throughout Jamaica.
Thank you! in advance for your continued support and generosity. We look forward to welcoming you as a member of the Jamlink Family. If you have any questions, please contact:

Baby Lion
REGGAE LOVE ALIVE
Rupert L .Davidson (23/04/1973)
In a time of war there are many beasts in the world today that are devouring lives but Baby Lion has come to inspire life with his music and message which is one of humility, redemption and truth as a true Rastafari.
Baby Lion’s public exposure began when he entered a talent contest in his community, after winning the contest as the best singer; Baby Lion continued singing with the encouragement of strangers, friends and members of his community.
He has worked with Sugar Minott along with another producer, Trevor Lovechild, who produced an all-star album, entitled “Cultural Revival—Jah is the Don.” Baby Lion had the opportunity to sing three tracks on the album, titled “Jah Love”, “Jah Almighty” and “Revival Reign” featuring Jah Karl. The album was released in 1995 on the Youth Man Promotion record label.
Aside from rocking The Mandela Park crowd in Half Way Tree Square in Kingston Jamaica on Black History Month, Baby Lion’s greatest exposure as an artiste in the business so far, was when Blessed Love Records in Stuttgart invited him on a promotional trip to Germany in 1998. There he discovered the value and power of his music, which encouraged his urge of wanting to be heard, known and seen on the music scene.
