Formed in Tokyo in 2003, this five member band is a super fun amalgamation of lo-fi, new wave, garage and techno sounds.
Centered around three females , adorned in fetching military garb, they are stunning to look at and exciting to watch. Not merely a pretty package, their music reveals a keen sense of pop melody and revels in sonic invention.
Their vocal stylings and appreciation of kitsch recall the B-52's and Devo. The 80's flavor that resonates through their songs brings to mind Debbie Harry of Blondie and Dale Bozzio of Missing Persons.
Still, their sound is their own; distinctly Baby Mongoose. Multi-talented bassist "Shacho" ( President in English) has constructed unique and somewhat strange musical instruments , such as the "Action Guitar" from conventional music gear. These homemade hybrids as well as programmed backing tracks, adorn the bands accomplished musicianship and create a sweet honeymoon fusion of new wave, disco, and hard rock.
So, make way for the pico pico sound and loud guitar!!
