About Background Projection

Background Projection is a one man band in fact and the person behind it it's named Mr.XIII All instruments natural or artificial,arrangements,programing,composing & editing are his own work. Starting name of the band was the same with the artist back in 1996 and the starting name was "La Mort" that after two years changed officially to Background Projection inspired from a phrase that W.Burroughs used on one of his novels (Exterminator!) as he was talking about a movie trick..The actor stands in front of a screen while a projector positioned behind the screen casts a reversed image of the background.Frequently the background image would appear faint and washed out compared to the foreground,especially in the older movies. ;) A thing that has to be understand for this band it's that it's not a one sided band but it is connected to lots of parallel projects accompanied by whole worlds and persons as well..Some of these projects are: Galaxia Obscura,Astarte's Bile & Wave Tank. Every project is totally different from the other but the persons that often interfere on the projects are almost always the same and they are close friends of Mr.XIII,musicians or not.They try to develope them selves and everything that they see around while creating and inventing new ways of artistic behaviour and alternative perception of life itself,something not so hard if we think of the fact that we all are different from one another inside but able,with low-budget means at the 21st century, to achieve things that in other times could cost plenty of money and time. The idea behind the project has to do with enviromental observation and focus, with the egocentric human element decentralized, while try to mark the feelings and scraps of enviroment itself to a melody or a soundscape which labors to present and act like the idea of the backgroung of a situation itself. A background projection as pronounced.. This concept it's an idea of expressing an alternate way of creation,way of understanding music or music as we know it.It's an attempt to create an odd piece of soundtrack-like music but not for a specific visual movie but for a sentimental journey inwards working through surrealistic & subconcious methods to reach the emotional part of the listener. *
