WE ARE POTENT, YOU MIGHT GET PREGNANT
"Small towns can be boring," says guitarist Johno Brown. "I wanted to do something other than sit around." He speaks for most youth in small town suburbia, where the every day routine can turn people into mindless zombies. But the boys of Back In The Attic wanted more than that; they not only wanted to have fun, but they wanted to help others do the same. BITA in it's earliest form started as a three piece in the fall of 2003, and in early 2005 Mike le Riche, along with Mat and Jason Madore, were in search of a fourth member for their band. Along came Johno, which is where the real story of Back In The Attic begins.
BITA is fuelled by the desire to create something new, something fun. Mat explained that "we felt that there's no point in playing music that you don't enjoy yourself." After a few months of practicing and playing small shows, BITA went into the a small studio in a local high school to record some demos. From there came more practice, more shows, and a stronger sense of direction. In November of 2005 the boys spent some time at Dream Bay Studios in Barrie, Ontario recording their first EP entitled "...Just Be Thankful You're Not A Zombie And Bust A Move". This six song disc is full of songs to dance to, and the live show is something that won't disapoint. In early 2006 Gary Hampton joined the band on keys, citing that "we all have this desire to make the crowd just as much a part of the live show as us, we love seeing people dancing and clapping along, even if they've never heard the music before." Playing shows with such acts as Sleeper Set Sail and dd/mm/yyyy, there is never a lack of passion and energy. "We're out to have a good time," says Mike. "Playing live is where BITA has the most fun."
Back In The Attic decided to part ways in early 2006, playing a final Farewell show on May 6th, 2006 at the home venue, the Innisfil Lions Hall. There is no way to say Thank You enough for the great times we've had. Without the support from friends and the crowd everything would be different. Thank you.
