Backwards Guitar, hosted by Michael Koval, is broadcast Monday mornings 7:00-9:00am on 94.9 CHRW (London, Ontario, Canada). Beyond the range of the radio waves, Backwards Guitar can be listened to either live or in the show archives at www.chrwradio.com.
Created in September of 2007, the objective of Backwards Guitar is to support up and coming bands from the indie music scene by providing their music with an audience. In an effort to capture the attention of the casual listener, we carefully select a few well-known bands to provide a sense of familiarity, which casual listeners tend to enjoy. This helps to maintain interest and thus draw attention to the lesser-known indie bands that also appear on our show. So rather than lose the interest of the casual listener, who is likely to stop listening when everything they hear on a show is completely unfamiliar to them, we embrace the concept that familiarity is an important part of the music listening experience.
Which is not to say that Backwards Guitar caters solely to the casual listener. For the more devoted music enthusiast, a wide range of genres are drawn from, culminating in a carefully-assembled selection of great songs both recently-released and rediscovered from the past.
