Influences
The bands influences consist of several contemporary blues artists including Eric Clapton, Tab Benoit, Tommy Castro, Bernard Allison, Jimmy Thackery, Walter Wolfman Washington, Allman Brothers, and the late Stevie Ray Vaughn. More traditional blues influences include BB King, Buddy Guy, Freddie King, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Albert King, and Jimmy Reed.
Backwater Blues Band plays a unique style of music with a full rich sound that moves audiences with powerful ballads and upbeat arrangements of traditional, contemporary, and original blues. Since 1997 the band has entertained audiences in various cities around the state of Florida. They have performed for music lovers of all ages in a variety of venues from small pubs to large nightclubs, including the Ringside Café (St. Petersburg), House of Blues (Orlando), and Blues Ship (Ybor City). The band has also opened up for international artists, including Dr. John and Lee Ann Womack.
The Backwater Blues Band is constantly adding new songs to their repertoire w hile keeping their current arrangements fresh. The band's latest CD has been well received and their fan base continually increases with each live performance.
Whether on the dance floor or tapping their feet at their table, audiences not only hear, but feel the richly spiced arrangements that have been described as having a subtle coolness and smooth funk-- known as the Backwater groove.
