About me:
BACKYARD MOVIES is a monthly improvisational film collective based out of Arlington, Texas, founded by filmmaker Frank Mosley and run smoothly with the help of associates Gideon Seaman, Frederick Trevino, Robby Storey, Nicholas Blanton, and others. It is a club for limitless members, only those who wish to be a part of telling good stories about real people. People that we know. People we are. For all our sins and flaws, for all our quirks and idiosyncracies. This is the place to blur fiction and reality, to show the beauty of imperfection. This is a place to experiment as an artist, to do something other than the ordinary without worrying that something has to be sacrificed. This is the sanctuary for short films, ones whose legitamacy is not determined by their running times. This is the stomping ground for actors. We encourage the use of non-actors just as much as the actors we hope will be intrigued by our projects. Enthuasiasm tends to go a long way. And passion. I'd rather have an inexperienced actor or unsure boom operator than a bragging diva and a crewman whose nose is higher than the boom itself. This is the place for actors to get dirty. It is not a place for makeup. It is a place to show the human face as a canvas of truth. Everyone has a story to tell and everyone brings their level of technique (or lack thereof) into every art they do. Let this be the melting pot of styles and ideas, of wounds and memories. All the films have to be shot over the course of one week's time, and shot with a handheld camera of any format. Editing can take as long as necessary until the essence of the story is found. The other requirement is that there is no script. There can be an outline as detailed as you want with character descriptions, plots, and arcs, but the actual dialogue will be found in front of the camera. There are movies that require lots of lights, effects, and crew. This is not that place. This is the place for seeking purity in minimalism. I grew up making a movie a day on analog Hi-8 with my friends in the backyard using only a handful of resources, but sometimes achieving the most charming of results. Hence the title. Embrace the limitations. Only then will you see outside the box. Everyone has a story to tell. Do you want yours told? For more info, go to www.frankmosley.com.

Doing great man... ST NICK at IFP Labs... Now being screened in Austin!! I'm in NC working right now... But I'll be in Austin for the screening. How about you? I seem to remember getting an email from you about a screening you were doing. One of these days I'll be back and we'll do that dinner thing!
i know how it is. don't worry about it. you'll get to it as soon as you can. the latest feature .. well, here's the synopsis: A man and woman are pregnant with their first child, after being married and deeply in love for years. She dies while giving birth. He raises the son on his own with no female role around. Once the boy reaches the end of the school year, while he is 10 years old, they go on a road trip to where ever the road takes them. No plan. No expectations. And the remarkable hymn of Beethoven's Ode To Joy is a secretive passage between various realities.
yeah, i wrote fred last night and mentioned that i would be available for any assistance needed. if the schedule fits, i'll be there for sure.
i also asked if fred might produce my latest feature, but he had to decline due to his latest plans of moving to new york, working on your film, and what not.
it goes well. i have a new script - i think maybe you and jill might be interested in it. lemme know what you've been up to. any films you guys need any assistance on? lemme know. i wanna be there.
Thanks! Teaser's 98% done. I might make a couple more trims, maybe fuss with the sound a little more, but I'm pretty happy with it as is. It looks really neat.
word. give jill a hug around the throat for me. check this: http://abchomeopathy.com/c.php/213 I hope it helps.
Yeah - it'd be great to hang with you guys. Rachel and I are starting up in school too. She's keeping up with voice lessons and performance - I am taking private piano classes.
When I saw the latest Cohen brothers movie over the holidays...i thought of u the entire time. i feel like they made an epic of the first water!!! Love u and miss u! Congratulation on all the amazing success..you deserve it above all!
Honestly(ellipses to follow)...in the holiday shuffle... going to New Orleans... drinking out in the quarter til four each night... waking up by 8 to spend quality time with estranged family... then driving to Austin on a whim to celebrate New Years on 6th street at some private party...just because I was on a list... ... in the midst of all that... I got sick. I'm almost better, but long story short... I haven't gone to see blood yet, because I like to enjoy movies like that without flu medicine.
If I'm fully recovered this weekend expect to see me, and expect that I will have watched it after work.
Thanks for the kind words about the script. I'm sort of leery about anything I have one of the main roles in as I am not an actor in any way, shape, or form.
