Bonnie Raitt, Aimee Mann, Sheryl Crow, Natalie Merchant, Beatles, Neil Young, Jim Boggia, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Robert Randolph, Jack Johnson, Caroline Aikens, Billy Hector, Stones, Jonnie Lang, Louden Wainwright III, Dave Matthews, Indigo Girls, Patty Smith, John Mayer, and many many more.
Then there's our friends, Dom, Kris, Ed Markiewicz, Marc Sengin, Mike and Eric from Fire by Night, and ALL the artists/performers that come out to open mic events and play their hearts out. We admire and learn from them all.
Bob Browne and Annette Rinker started playing together in January 2003 on somewhat of a whim. They put their own acoustic styling to songs by Aimee Mann, Lucinda Williams, Bonnie Raitt, Neil Young, the Beatles and others. They also have a growing number of original tunes that they enjoy playing for people. Bob and Annette are big supporters of the South Jersey, Live Music scene and love playing for anyone that wants to listen. Playing at local dinner parties and coffeehouses, Backyard has developed its own little following of fans that like to listen to the eclectic mix of music they play.
Recently they have been joined by Rink playing hand drums and other percussion adding a whole new dimension to the BackYard sound. Even more recently Joe Brauckman has been adding great harmonica to some BackYard songs giving them all a new and unique sound.
No Longer Running but BackYard use to host "Open Mic Night" at Hammonton Bagel Cafe the first friday of each month. This was a fun event that always seemed to attract fine talent from all over. There was always a very friendly atmosphere and a very responsive audience. We had a lot of fun doing it and met lots of wonderfully talented people. We thank the owners, Nat and Sue for letting us invade there place once a month for two years and having our great musical showcases. Thanks to everyone that ever came out!!

BackYard, Thank you so much for being a friend to us at INDIE INTERNATIONAL and our first semi-annual contest. You are part of the indie music revolution! Good luck on all you do with your music!
good afternoon, backyard... i'm writing today, five days before our show with anton sword, to inquire: will you be attending?
i understand that sometimes, while our intentions are good, inconveniences can impede our best efforts, leaving a performer searching an empty room for the most loyal fans. rest assured, i know your support for yearlongday endures!
but, have you heard anton sword? he comes from the ever-vital music scene in brooklyn, ny, and brings a sound that blends the voice of bryan ferry with jarvis cocker ('the instrument your friend'), recalls the songwriting of post-beatles lennon ('liquefy') and later burt bacharach ('maybe it's begun'), combines the mood of a miles davis tune with the ambience of an eno song... and sets it all to a groove that would make quincy jones sweat!
i'm looking forward to hearing anton sword as much as i am looking forward to performing in yearlongday! listen for yourself... mentioned aboved are a few of anton sword's great songs; plus, yearlongday has recently added four 'official bootlegs' to its playlist. fans can expect to hear these and many more at our show on SAT. FEB. 23. the barrington coffeehouse is easy to reach from several major highways, and the show starts at 8pm. here's their website:
as promised, so delivered! tonight i uploaded the FIRST in a series of "OFFICIAL BOOTLEGS": let me down.
this is the RAW, unmixed version of the first song from the NEW ALBUM 'best excuses'. some of you heard it performed LIVE this past summer, but for the rest, this is the first time hearing it!
so enjoy it! LISTEN often, and give me your OPINION... anything you might think might improve the song.
and STAY TUNED for more NEW MUSIC from yearlongday!!!
Hey BackYard, it was a blast sharing the bill with you all at the BCH last night. Y'all sounded great and I have the recording to prove it. Email me your address and I'll send you a copy. Let's do it again sometime. I sent this same message to Bob's other myspace too, just in case....Best, Matthew
just stopping by to say happy holidays 2008 (yeah, i know i'm early, but i'm slow i just put up some holiday songs, which is kind of ironic cause I hate holiday music, but hey, if that's your thing, come have a listen! and if you're really really into it, just order my RIse CD, and you'll get the holiday songs sent to you for free, yep, thass right, free, free, free, nada, nothing, no charge, free. Well, I guess not technically free cause you have to pay for the Rise CD, but other than that. . . free, yep! okay, time to lay off the red bull!
anyway, happy holidaze and all that~ LB ps. also, I'm on Facebook now and Youtube too (thought I would do a full service announcement now that I have your attention) so add me there too to get more senseless messages!!!
