Bad Actor, a duet made whole, was founded with one purpose.

Playing loud and playing heavy music! Taking up home base in Orlando FL, we are attempting to provide music with an innovative and abrasive presentation. Furious and peaceful, this five piece will take their art and play through the loudest amps they can find with extreme unrelenting ferocity. And then proceed to ignite that art with steaming hot lava.

"Though unsigned, Orlando based Bad Actor have valiantly self-released their debut LP, Portrait of Finality and have been passing it left, right and centre for the grand sum of zero as all decent unsigned bands should. On my first listening of the record I almost immediately believed I had heard this kind of music before, multiple times. The slow burning opener, The Kracken of Normandy, utilises the jangly, apocalyptic acoustic guitars that we've become familiar with through releases by Mastodon and Baroness, and I was ready to write Bad Actor off as another imitator. I was forcibly made to eat my words after the brief sludge/acoustic intro was over. The tempo picks up without warning, diving into a palm-muted flurry of virtuous riffing which, to my surprise, reminded me heavily of Symbolic-era Death. Bad Actor are more than your standard sludge/doom fare, and it may even be unfair to label them such. Portrait of Finality is a progressive and ambitious record that not once comes up for a breath. Once you've pressed play, you're in it for the duration as well. When Bad Actor aren't smashing your face in with intensely heavy, downtuned riffs, there are brief moments of progged out beauty with soaring lead guitar melodies like the intros of A Man of Ideas and Shaking Hands Through Doorways. But these sections are fleeting and always culminate in another brutalising at the hands of strange time signatures and brilliantly consistent vocals. These shrieks, screams and bellows are wreathed in malevolence and a will to terrify the listener that puts Eyehategod to shame, treading that murky line where they'd suit a death metal or black metal band just as nicely." - Lurker (http://lurkerspath.blogspot.com/)

"Well I can personally vouch for the pure abrasive adrenaline that this album provides. These guys must be pummeling the ears in Florida, they need to get out of there and spread this sludge virus in all the other states and beyond. "They're a five-piece from Orlando, FL. They enjoy krakens, leviathans in general, and long walks on the beach. Oh and Mastodon. There's really not too much of the old slåådge here. Instead, the Bad Actors amalgamate several styles into a consistent mold of metals. Thing looks kinda weird, yet refuses to fall apart, its seams mended each and every time by melodic Baroness-reminiscent jerk-offs. And I mean that in a nice way. + For once, there are lyrics on their myspace, too. "Bad Actor are from Florida, and they sound like it. Pure throat shredding metal. Glass shoved in your face, and dirt clogged in your throat. You can try imagine something sunny while you take a ride with Bad Actor. But its nigh impossible. With two vocalists, ie. two times the shredded vocal delivery, in two octaves, bellowing and new and improved sound of razors against bone. Yep, Bad Actor, like their name implies, dont want you enjoy this performance. This is no sunny walk in the park. You will be bruised and possibly broken. You will get a dry feeling caught in your chest and air wont seem so readily available as blackened chords rain arpeggiated deah upon your nightmare. Whatever hasnt succumbed thus far is sure to taste the steady rumble of the rhythm section as it gallops all over the wasted lands, victims strewn by the sonic battering, crushed beneath its death encrusted hooves.
