Q: Does the band Have Public Liability Insurance?
A: Yes we have individual and group Public Liability Insurance cover provided via "Duck For Cover" an incorporated, non-profit association of performers which makes available cost-effective public liability insurance cover for its members. We can provide original copies of our "Certificates of Currency" if requested.
Q: How did you get your name?
A:It was the name of an original song of a female artist that Grant & Brian were employed as backing musicians for. The song sucked. When Grant and Brian pulled the plug on the backing band to do something more meaningful, they felt like they were "Bad Bad Boys" for leaving. In jest the term was mentioned as the name for the new band. Sadly it stuck when they were booked for their first show.
Q: Why is your availability for bookings so erratic?
A: Simple Day jobs, Shift work and Family and other commitments. Generally we are booked when we can play and aren't when we can't!!
Q: How Far Will you travel to play?
A: Any where our other commitments allow for.
Q: How much do you charge?
A: Not Enough! Drop us a message or Click on this link to eMail us for a quote. Our fees are based on how long and far we will be away from home not to do with how long we would be playing for.
Q: How long have you been together?
A: Our first Show was on the 19th May 2001 at the North Whyalla Football Club Mad Hatters Night.
Q: How many shows have you done in that time?
A: We have lost count but in excess of 300.
Q: Do you play at weddings?
A: Not normally. If we do, we expect the couple to understand we do not play formal wedding music. If the couple desire, they can play their own music for the formalities of the wedding from CD through our PA. This has worked well in the past.
Q: Are any of you related?
A: No. Why do you keep asking?
Q: Do you have any CDs for sale?
A: No. We would only consider something live.
Q: Who does Grant's hair?
A: Grant doesn't have a stylist as such, but if its looking a bit rough he gets Phil to go over it with a smooth chair leg and that usually does it.
Q: Why don't you let any one help pack up after your shows?
A: Simple it slows us down and you are not covered if you injure yourself in the process! Packing up gives us a chance to analyse the show, unwind and let the adrenalin return to normal. It's great therapy for the three of us.

OUR YOU TUBE VIDEO PLAYER!! Note these videos are of low standard quality and are indicative only. Most home video cameras can not replicate the true fidelity of the live sound and video compression reduces the sound quality as well.
Family and our day job commitments, ever decreasing places to play, illness, hospitalisation, travelling 60,000 Km, all day and/or all night drives, dust, smoke, people who can't handle their drinks, dodgy publicans, time wasters, liars, bad sounding town halls, gallons of sweat, burst blisters, bruises, splinters, burns, chiropractors, the occasional need for anti-inflammatory medication, mechanical break downs, empty fuel tanks, sky rocketing fuel prices, a few village idiots, barely digestible Road House meals, those who think they can sing and can't, People who use the terms "Don't you know who I am" or "I'll make sure you never work in this town again" when they don't get their own way, equipment damage or theft, over 300 sets ups and pack ups hasn't stopped us in reaching our 7th year together (May 19 2008). Not a bad effort for 3 Blokes (who were all in other bands) that got together for a one off performance at a local fund raiser in May 2001!
We are a 3 Piece Party Rock Band from Whyalla South Australia.
Good bands become great bands by having the right chemistry to become bigger than the sum of its individuals. This certainly explains the longevity of the Bad Bad Boys who formed in 2001 and after 7 years and more than 300 performances still has the original line up consisting of Grant (vocals, bass and keyboards), Phil (Guitar) and Brian (drums).
To guarantee the band some hope of getting work after the introduction of Poker Machines and where live venues in SA went from 700 to less than 100 almost over night, from its inception the band had a single goal. This was for each member to put aside their own personal music taste to create an extensive list of popular commercial music.
The repertoire is now huge and consists of time tested and now work hardened material that is instantly recognisable to a wide age group. In fact at some shows the boys throw the set list aside and just take requests from the crowd – something only bands experienced as this one can pull off successfully.
Regardless of which path they set off on the Bad Bad Boys will take you on a journey where you will hear popular rock music from The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Elvis, pure pop from acts like Queen and The Buggles, Aussie classics from The Easybeats and Steve Wright, contemporary music from Powder Finger, Jet and Nirvana and of course pub rock favourites from The Angels, Cold Chisel and AC-DC.
Demand for the Bad Bad Boys has seen them perform their concert length - sets punctuated by short breaks over much of Country SA and Broken Hill at all types of public, private and corporate events held in homes clubs, pubs, rodeos and other larger venues. Their shows are always are like breathing you wont want them to stop and you will need to be prepared for a sore throat from all of the singing you will be joining in on!
SORRY WE DO NOT PLAY COUNTRY AND WESTERN (but you never know what may creep into a classic we are covering on any given night).
Bad Bad Boys have all "paid our dues" through the experience of the best years of the Whyalla and surrounding areas music scene by playing in one or two great, many average and a few bad bands during that time.
If your a young muso and need advise, Do the best you can at school. Believe every word when you hear AC-DC's "It's a long way to the top", because the odds are against you succeeding.
Goldens Rules for young bands to learn fow when you are on the road
Others will argue about this but after 30 years of Pub Rock and no signs of slowing down these are the golden rules we have learned when on the road.
We offer the insight of our experience and wisdom freely. You can choose to ignore it but you will learn the hard way. With live music all but dead can you affords to?
1)Leave your love interests home. They can cause friction amongst each other and the band and this can be a distraction you don’t need. And besides you really cant spend much time with them any way, so make it up to them whan you get home.
2)Leave your mates home too. Your mates will always be fans and you need to be able to engage a crowd of strangers to measure how good your band is. We’ve known great bands fails because of the entourage they bring with them.
3)Be professional at all times from the moment you arrive at the venue till the moment you leave. You are not being marked for just your performance. If you play well and then party all night so the publican has to give all the house guest their money back because they could not sleep is a guarantee you wont be rebooked.
4)Don’t play under the influence. You cant drink or do drugs at work so don’t do it on stage. Regardless of what you think you don’t play better, you can look stupid and unprofessional and it can mask the natural high that can last for days you will get from playing. You also need to be ready for any trouble that may erupt in the crowd and protect your self and you equipment. If you want to party there are other days or nights in the week to do it.
Bad Bad Boys Party Band Members - Amazingly still the original line up from May 2001:-
Brian - Drums and Backing vocals
Grant - Bass, Keyboards and Main Vocals
Phil - Guitar and Vocals
Who I'd like to meet: The people who allowed Poker Machines into South Australia and killed off live music.
Did you know that in 1994 there were no poker machines in SA and at the time there were over 700 venues that supported live entertainment. Sadly through the introduction of gaming machines there are now less than 70 venues that have humans playing instruments or standing up and telling jokes as its only form of live entertainment.
