It began with a vision – the vision of a young country cowboy out in the boonies of Northern Washington. This kid got tired of cow tipping and hay bale hopping and thus, picked up a guitar. No. No turning back for Jack Mattingly; the sweet pulse of Rock-and-Roll had found his fingertips. From it's birth to the present, Bad Chuck has seen a variety of intermingling genres and intermingling band members. As of now, it consists of Mr. Mattingly. (Who has merged with The Bare Feet Band, check them out at www.myspace.com/thebarefeetband)
There are a few key ingredients for cooking up some delectable Bad Chuck tunes. They are as follows:
- A simple dreamin' country boy with a heart too big and a mind too attentive to the world
- the intoxicating fever-twitch of the freedom to CREATE (something new, something groovy, something downright stupendous)
- A dissenting young artist disenchanted with the mainstream, flashing his middle-finger to the man.
- An ear tuned to and inspired by bands like the Band, the Eels and Buddy Holly
- A sound that somehow, miraculously, manages to splice folk with rock, alternative, retro and yes, even a little country boy twang here and there. (How the Chuck manages this feat is beyond me...)
Listen to Bad Chuck at full volume, listen while driving to freedom on the freeway, listen in the syrupy summer sun. Listen while you adventure, listen while you laze around, listen alone and listen with friends. Listen while rain kisses window panes, listen in the shower. Listen while you fall asleep, listen while you fall asleep next to someone, listen to it in ratty old garages, in living rooms, on headphones - listen morning, noon and night.
Listen any time, any place because Bad Chuck is about being young, sticking it to the man, love, love and loss, dancing until your bones ache and singing along until your voice shatters.
Listen because we're all young, in love, out of love, need to dance, need to sing and goddamnit we need to reclaim our beloved music from the mainstream!

Other than having found a pack of wild pygmy's camped in my living room, just fine. I can only imagine the crazed rituals they performed in my kitchen, praying to the gods of ganj & chocolate. though i admit, i am somewhat to blame, exposing them to the tribal calling of previously unheard bad chuck. it is only to be expected. i guess cruton consumed said brownies as well [proof as to their shamanic powers]. i am waiting patiently for the bad chuck water revival to unleash itself, as well as for the "new" tracks previously promised to me.
how can the bad chuck water revival be online when parts 2 & 3 are asleep on my living room floor??
