My Mam and Dad and Family were my main influences before my musiclife started. In the early days I listened to American R&B, Chuck Berry and all the others, Rock 'n' Roll was Elvis, Little Richard, Buddy Holly,Jerry Lee Lewis " What I Say" and even Ricky Nelson and the rest of those guys, too many to say now, A little bit of folk and skiffle, Dylan,My first record in 64/65 was a Bob Dylan song, Lonnie Donegan did really authentic hard nose folk,we called it skiffle, made it fun like traditional jazz, trad for short. I lost Elvis right around GI Blues, only caught glimpses of him after that, same with all of 'em really. There was a smokin side of Motown that really got me, Martha and the Vandellas and of course the Stax stuff just rocked. The Beatles and all the British invasion bands were influences to a certain degree, but I'd grown up in Liverpool and listened to all the same music as those guys, went to the same clubs, I could see/hear the same influences in their music as were in most of the bands I saw back then.it was in the rhythm. BB King came along around 1968,I mean that's the first time I heard him. For me his 50s and 60s stuff is classic, lots of other faves before and since then, I still listen to vinyl, I still love my music loud.
I was born in Liverpool, England in 1947. I started playing in bands around 1963 and have done that pretty much all my life. Along the way I have had the opportunity to play with such artists as The Masterminds, The Merseys, Gary Waker and the Rain, The Crying Shames, Badfinger, Natural Gas, George Harrison, and John Lennon .I started writing songs in '67 and had some success with GW and the Rain in Japan '68. I joined Badfinger in late '69 and we had great success for the next few years. I was lucky enough to write a lot of music for the band.I live in Minnesota with Kathie, my wife of 35 years, and our 2 sons, Joe and Shaun, they are the major influences in my life now. I think of myself as a writer and write the songs that come. The Echo Boys are, Randy Anderson, Lead and Rhythm guitar,Harry Pulver, Keyboards, Tom Lecher, Bass, Bob Millea, drums,Doug Molland, lead and rhythm guitar, and myself, lead and rhythm guitar. We all sing. If you're interested, these songs are available for purchase through badfinger@mchsi.com, or let me know through a MySpace message.
Hope you like 'em. More info, songs and stuff to follow.
I forgot to say these are demos.........
