Bio
Bad With Names is a 5-piece fusion rock band that began in January of 2006 and is based out of the western suburbs of Chicago, IL. The six musicians who comprise Bad With Names are committed and steadfast in their mission of bridging the gaps between popular musical genres so smoothly that people cannot help but move. The Short Version: Kevin met Bob in middle school jazz band. They were enemies for a little bit, but they reconciled and teamed up. Bob and Kevin met John in high school, he was pretty sweet, too, but isn't really important until later. Bob met Carson (who coincidently knew John) and they decided to room together at EIU, where Kevin also decided to go. That was a mistake. Kevin and Carson were driving home from EIU a semester later and decided that they should start a band. Just before EIU, Kevin had met Ryan. Just after EIU, Kevin called Ryan. Carson, Kevin, and Ryan all met up with a bass player, and just began playing. The four spent that winter learning each other's styles and working together to produce what later became something they never thought they'd be a part of. Spring came and people were coming home for the summer. Kevin got John to come to a practice, and he liked it so much that he wanted to join. About a month later, Bob came decided to make himself the final ingredient in their funk stew. Soon after, the band developed several songs for their repertoire. They played a few gigs a year to keep their skills sharp between '07 and '08. Continuing to hone and develop their music, they decided to undertake an album in June '08. With the album nearly complete and a fire in their bellies, Bad With Names decided its time to tackle the live scene. With several shows in '09, they have already shown many venues that they can both draw a crowd and entice new audience members. Bad With Names has played some prestigious Chicago venues, such as The Elbo Room, Kinetic Playground, Martyrs, and The Congress Theatre. Also, Bad With Names frequents many local pubs and venues, playing sets up to three hours long. Bad With Names is a diversely influenced rock band. Our band's vision is to write music that is as fun to listen to as it is to play. Drawing from each member's individual influences, we are able to meld rock with reggae, jazz, blues, fusion, and funk to create our own unique sound.
