Southeast Portland's marvelous relic of Hollywood's Golden Age is a stunning movie palace full of wonder and surprises.
For nearly four generations now, the Bagdad's Mediterranean and neon persona and daily offerings of celluloid adventures have made it an icon of Portland's vibrant Hawthorne District. A movie hall of the best sort, the Bagdad's interior is an attraction unto itself with barreled arches, ornate, wrought iron fixtures, brilliant-colored mosaic work, and painted and stenciled Mediterranean designs and mythical characters. Kick back in the theater and enjoy a slice of pizza and a handcrafted ale during the show, or come early and enjoy dinner in the casual pub that fronts the theater. But be forewarned -- outdoor tables in the summertime may be hard to come by!

The champion of post-dinner invention is the "cigar & Porto" nightcap. It's a tradition that has been enjoyed around the world for centuries. Greater Trumps brings this tradition to Portland with style. You will find our convivial bar mere paces from the day-and-night bustling crowds of Hawthorne Blvd., at the southern edge of the Bagdad Theater & Pub. But though we bask in the neon lights of the Bagdad each night, when you're inside you might believe your could be a couple thousand miles away on a quiet European side street. The sweet odor of cigars and fortified wine, and the conversation usher in relaxation. Trivia at Greater Trumps every Monday night at 9pm.

Just wait 'til you check out this new spot, soon to become the loftiest place to play pool and drink a beer in all the land. Step inside and have a gander up, waaaaay up -- this hidden room behind the Bagdad Theater's screen stretches an incredible seven stories from floor to ceiling!
From 1930s vaudeville behind-the-scenes area to 1970s arthouse and hippie hangout, this place has a pretty cool history. We've renovated it from top to bottom to become Hawthorne's most happening spot to play a round or two of 8-ball, relax before or after a movie or just stop by for a beer. On the inside far wall hangs a huge 20'x20' mural depicting the various tales, characters and memories from the Bagdad since its opening in 1927.
