Sounds Like
I used to think I could say I sound like my superiors. Now, I know better. I sound like me, foibles and all.
The few places I've been (and have therefore influenced the way I sound):
I am a writer by training. My love of writing led to a love of languages. Of all the languages I've learned, music is my favorite.
I was born and raised in New Jersey, lived in New York City for a time, then Vienna (Austria, not Virginia,) then New Jersey again, then Togo in West Africa, then Washington, D.C., then NYC again, then the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and I've now landed in New Orleans. Each stop introduced me to new music and influences the sounds I create.
I'm currently passing some of my free time with my Valeriano Bernal guitar, MIDI keyboard, Garageband and Logic.
As for the music that I live to make...
I have some music training, but not nearly enough to take myself too seriously. I've been studying flamenco guitar for nearly a decade now. I am also at varying degrees of proficiency on harmonica, bass, piano, dulcimer, and djembe.
I generally enjoy spacey, beat-heavy grooves. I also like throwing in exotic expressions from Andalusian, Classical, African and Far Eastern music.
I am also always looking for a singer or rapper or something therein for collaborations. I can neither sing well nor do I have the gumption to try. (Unless, of course, I'm drunk and there's a karaoke machine in front of me with Robert Palmer's "Addicted to Love" on it.)
I do, however, have a decent cache of material for working with a singer or rapper. I've had a few fruitful collaborations with folks across the globe, some of which are here.
Holler at me.
I am Fozzie Bear
"Wocka! Wocka!"
I love making people crack up.
If only my routine didn't always bomb!
I may find more groans than laughs, but I always keep the jokes coming.
Greetings and Salutations from the north! Much thanks for sending wicked music my way!! What do you say, trade a Rage City Roller Girls shirt for a CD?
