..In 1999, from the haunted upstairs apartment of a sleepy, tree-filled neighborhood in Saint Louis, Heather and Theodore started a musical collaboration that would completely alter their perceptions of time and space. It all started with the theory that their apartment was indeed inhabited by one, if not several, trans-dimensional beings. The two began to write and play songs to appease the ghosts. Most of these sessions took place near the witching hour with just two acoustic guitars and their intertwined voices, sending sound into the night and theoretically, across extra dimensions. They named their project Bagheera, after the black panther from Kipling's "The Jungle Book", who acted as both protector and teacher.
Eventually an analog tape machine was acquired and used to record the empty apartment (for proof of ghosts that never materialized) and to sonically document their increasing list of songs. The two then set themselves to the task of learning to build an album. They began experimenting, adding brashy drumming, fuzz tones, layers of guitar melodies, and various electronic oddities, all the while emphasizing the core of airy melodies and haunting female/male harmonies.
In 2003 Bagheera teamed up with producer Lance Reynolds (Alkaline Trio, Blue Meanies, Ash, Local H) at his Hyperspace Studios and recorded their debut album "Twelves". (2004 asian man records)
Bagheera are currently taking their sweet time recording the next album at home.
