Ian D Withnail (Flute, Harmonica, Percussion, Vocals); Mike Hall (Guitar, Mandola, Vocals, Songwriter); Mary O' Gilmour (Melodeon & Queen Rat, Big Mouth Gobshite) and Beerchan Mc Carthy (idiot, lack of memory and all-round fool ...+ Fiddle & Banjo)

Influences
So many we'd have to write a book and then another and then some more. Bollox - it's mainly Beer.
Ian has been emotionally influenced by Cats. Most of his music is dedicated to cats. His house is now open to all homeless cats, if anyone would like to find a place for some old mangy flea-infested mog, his is the place.

Sounds Like
Nothing I've heard before because i'm deaf and can't hear meself farting. we really are a band that is difficult (and we don't know what we're doing) which is why you should listen to someone else and come and see us dead (cos we're mainly dead) and then you can make up your own minds.

Scurrying from the Somerset and Dorset area of the West Country comes a flurry of rats; in fact, the Bag of Rats. All four members have played in various kinds of bands over the years and came together in 2005 with a view to forming a band which could combine their individual musical experience. The result is a rich brew of Traditional English tea, Blues, reds, Irish, Jazz and Country; a smidgeon of pigeon Ska, a hint of alternative and a peppering of psychedelic skiffle; in a nutshell, Verminous Folk!
Bag of Rats have spread their “verminous folk” with astounding ebullience and self-delusion at Burnham-on-Sea Folk Fest, Minehead Beer Festival, Wessex Folk Festival, Glastonbury 2007, Lapstock Festival, Goldhill Fair, Wimborne Folk Festival (The White Hart), Watchet Carnival and knawed and nibbled at the dancing fools and cheering crowds at many pubs. Bag of Rats had a triumphant return to the places that saw them over the last three years with lots of new venues requesting (but failing to get) their entertainment. They always prove to be disappointing with audiences they entertain and are continuing to do so. Bag of Rats have supported 3 Daft Donkeys on a number of occasions in 2008 and Hobo Jones & The Junkyard Monkeys and RSVP! Please look to website and my space page for further details and lies.
The fabulous CD ‘Abbey Rodent’, has eight scrummy examples of the Rat sound; this is on sale at gigs or online. The next album “Ratify Yourself” is in the pipeline.
You can listen to Bag of Rats or find out where they’re playing on their website and My Space pages. Please contact Mary Rat for festivals, gigs, support slots, interviews, record deals and tours around the world oh and television. They’re not asking for much! Go on, I can tell you want to!

Hey Bag Of Rats - love the acoustic meets punk style! Bring it on! If you're ever in Wales you must let us know! Have been seriously considering acoustic emo as a possible direction - so you never know - our paths could cross next year at Cambridge Folk Festival ! Take care - enjoy the creative process and harness whatever powers you can for a postive end. lol danievansgod on twitter. D x (Defiance of God)

Some friends are remembered because of their smile. Some friends are remembered because of their style. But you are remembered because you are so nice to remember. I always thought loving someone is the greatest feeling, but I realized that loving a friend is even better. We lose people we love, but we never lose true friends. Keep me as a friend and I will keep you in my heart and lock it up. I'll throw away the key so that no one can take you away from me.
Hi - HAPPY NEW YEAR! Hope to do just that - see you live again that is! In the meantime let me know if you'd like anything listed on THE GIG, particularly if you've got a young support act from the Southwest. Send any details via the main website by clicking on the address in my My Space profile. Viv
