Songwriters Annelies Monseré (BE) and Jessica Bailiff (US) began
collaborating naturally, after a brief tour together in the US in the summer
of 2005.
Based not only on a mutual admiration of each other's music, but also upon
friendship, the collaboration officially began with live shows in Europe in
2006. During another tour in 2007, Annelies and Jessica recorded an EP in
Gent that reflected the atmosphere of their concerts, playing each other's
music (www.morctapes.com)
Currently, they are writing material for an album. Although there are roots
from their solo offerings, this new endeavor promises to surprise those who
think they know what to expect from them. Darker avenues will be explored,
incorporating drums and moody dynamics.
They will be performing new songs in September 2009 in the Netherlands,
Belgium and France.
PRESS QUOTES:
* "This four track EP...is such a purely compelling piece of work that it
makes me wish it was a little bit longer. There is a fascinating intimacy to
the music...By far, the vocals on this disc are among the most beautiful and
delicate I've ever heard" (brainwashed.com)
* "Here they sound like a tight unit, utilizing their similarities to good
effect, and fleshing out the tunes with their distinct touches...it's pretty
as hell, but it's all over too soon." (Foxy Digitalis)
* "...four slightly minimal, psychedelic and droney popsongs, in a style
that will definitely excite fans of acts as diverse as Flying Saucer Attack,
Slowdive and Sybille Baier." (Clear Spot)
* "Avec cet EP, Jessica Bailiff et Annelies Monseré trouvent le parfait
accord, d'une délicatesse inouïe. Une beauté aussi rare, intensifiée par la
courte durée du disque est d'ores et déjà indispensable."
