Aguila Negra was formed in 1998 consisting of Baldemar Velasquez and Jesse Ponce. Baldemar found Jesse, as an accordian player, and formed the band. Baldemar has a musical background dating back to the year 1961 and has used music to motivate and encapture peoples heart for the union. Baldemar, of Mexican decent, is passionate about his work and lives and breathes for La Causa. He is today's Moses of the Latin American peoples. Forming a union to provide better wages and living conditions for the immigrants who come to the United States every year. This union, called the Farm Labor Organizing Committee, has interwoven music into the movement for strength and for motivation and encouragement. Jesse is an accomlished accordianist who came from Texas and is now settled in Toledo, Ohio. He played the Bajo Sexto for the famous Flaco Jimenez under a Warner Brothers label for several years, then later formed his own band called Sal y Pinienta. When Baldemar decided to cut a record he searched and interviewed several accordianists and when he found Jesse he found a friend and also a talented man who was ready and willing to contribute. They have recently cut a new record which will be out around Christmas.
FYI: Baldemar & Jesse are not mediator of this myspace account, but are fully aware and supportive of it :) Thanks, Christiana V.
